Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
I work best with students who are high-achieving, thoughtful, and often putting a lot of pressure on themselves to succeed. Many of the students I support feel anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out, even when things look “fine” on the outside. I also work closely with students from multicultural backgrounds who are navigating identity, family expectations, or a sense of not fully belonging. I have extensive experience supporting students who have been impacted by trauma, including sexual assault, relationship violence, and other difficult life experiences. I spent four years working at the Office of Victim Assistance at CU Boulder, and I bring a steady, compassionate approach to creating a space where students feel safe, supported, and in control of their healing process.
If you are looking to work on trauma, anxiety or/and depression and are open to let me treat you with a combination of scientific approaches and spiritual ones, you are a good fit to my practice. My background as a neuroscientist makes me a good fit for STEM students, but artistic students also enjoy my style, since I combine art, and spirituality with evidence based practices. I am Latina and grew up in Puerto Rico. Since I also transition to the Continental US, I love working with International students and enjoy learning from different cultures. I also like to help with acculturation issues. I have worked with many students in my practice and would love to work with you. My colleague, who sees students in person, is also from Puerto Rico and uses trauma based interventions such as EMDR to treat trauma and anxiety. She uses CBT and other somatic imterventions for the treatment of depression. Send me a text or email. See you soon!

Are stress, overwhelm and anxiety interfering with school, friends and life in general? Do you want to better understand and work through complicated emotions and unhelpful thought patterns? Maybe you’re ready to build new skills for handling life transitions, stressful situations or past experiences that still feel heavy. You don’t have to figure it out on your own. Together we’ll strengthen what’s working and create a practical, personalized therapeutic plan that helps you move forward.. We begin with a complimentary, no obligation, 15 minute video consultation. This gives me a chance to understand what you’re going through and allows you to decide if we’re a good fit. After the consultation, if you decide to move forward and have Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Anthem, I’ll verify your coverage and any copay so you know what to expect, and then we can schedule your first session. I offer both in-person and virtual appointments.
I work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck in their own heads, or worn down by anxiety, obsessive or intrusive thoughts, depression, food or body concerns, perfectionism, relationship stress or breakups, or the lasting impact of past experiences—and who are looking for thoughtful, effective support to move forward. I’m a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience, with advanced training as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist–Consultant (CEDS-C) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II). I take a steady, collaborative approach that’s grounded in research but tailored to you. I’m thoughtful about pacing, and we’ll spend time understanding what’s been keeping you stuck, building practical tools you can actually use day to day, and working toward meaningful change in a way that feels manageable and safe. My office is located in Boulder, and I offer in-person therapy there as well as telehealth services throughout Colorado. I also offer a free video consultation so you can ask questions, get a sense of my approach, and decide whether working together feels like a good fit. Struggles with stress, anxiety, social issues, body image, issues around family and simply adulting are real and sometimes feel immense. Growing into yourself is not an easy process. This is the time you’re figuring out where you fit into the world – which career path to choose, which friends circle to keep, where to live, how to transform yourself into an independent adult… You’re making bigger decisions that have greater consequences and learning how to handle the repercussions of your actions. It makes sense for this time to be fraught with anxiety, depression, fear, and loneliness. Maybe you know that your partner isn’t treating you well, but you’re unsure of what a healthy relationship feels like. Or you’re aware that your friendships aren’t fulfilling, but you’re unsure of your own boundaries and how to voice them in relationship. It can be confusing to stand up for yourself when you don’t quite know how things can be better. But you do know that things just don’t feel right – that something is missing. I will help you explore your feelings of confusion and get clear on what’s not working for you. I will lead you toward the feelings under the confusion: the sadness, fear, anxiety… so that you can better understand your experience. We can clarify your relationship values and help you learn ways to ask for what you want by setting healthy boundaries and communicating your needs effectively. We can explore your passions and interests and help you identify the right path forward. Together, we can help you transform into the person you wish to be.

"Resilience is based on being able to accept ambiguity and find hope amid uncertain conditions." This notion, shared by Dr. Pauline Boss, is one that is central to my clinical practice. We all have points in our lives when stress, change, or loss, may leave us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure of what lies ahead. The opportunity to warmly welcome clients into my office to re-gain their center, tap into internal resources, and nurture the development of new strategies is one I welcome each time I meet someone new. Rocky, my therapy dog, provides an added level of comfort for clients.

My work is built on a foundation of the belief that everyone possesses health, sanity, and wisdom regardless of how disconnected they feel from it or the problems presenting in their life. I support clients tired of being pathologized and ready to become authors of their own experience through self-defined narratives of healing. For over 10 years, I served my community as a crisis counselor in various capacities and sat with folks experiencing the worst moment of their lives. I have yet to meet a person who is beyond help or "too much." Through my career, I have honed a unique ability to work with suicidal thoughts, addiction, anger and psychosis. You are not broken.
