I am a Licensed Psychologist who offers individual therapy, as well as learning disorders, ADHD, personality and psychopathology testing. My training has primarily consisted of working with college students in counseling centers and private practice settings. I offer therapy and have experience addressing depression, self-esteem, grief, relationships, anxiety, and identity development. I also offer comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for learning disorders and ADHD, as well as psychological evaluations to assess mood, personality, and relationship functioning. In psychotherapy and testing, I pride myself on taking a strengths-based approach; I believe that we all have undiscovered strengths that can be useful during challenging times. My theoretical orientation is Interpersonal, an integrative framework that helps you explore your life through the perspectives of connection, thoughts, and emotions. I welcome you to be all of who you are, while helping you explore all that you can be. You may be wondering if you are capable of taking this step, and the answer is YES! It may take you out of your comfort zone, but you are not alone once you step outside of it. Sometimes we need additional support to reach our potential and navigate change, and it is my honor to be a helping hand in your life. * I am a Clinical Supervisor at the Georgia State University Counseling Center (GSU Counseling Center). While I am also listed as an independent provider on ThrivingCampus, my inclusion on this platform does not constitute endorsement, recommendation, or preferential referral by Georgia State University or the GSU Counseling Center. Services provided through my private practice are separate and independent from my role at GSU. Students are free to choose any provider listed on ThrivingCampus or seek services elsewhere, and selecting my services will not influence access to care, services, or standing within the GSU Counseling Center.

Many of the people I work with live in the “in-between” — between cultures, identities, roles, and expectations. Maybe you’re constantly navigating competing demands from family, community, and self. Maybe you feel caught between pride in your roots and the ache of not quite fitting in. That kind of in-betweenness can carry invisible grief, deep resilience, and stories that are layered and complex. Therapy with me is a place where all of that gets to exist. Where silence—once a survival strategy—no longer has to be your default. Where you don’t have to explain why you’re tired or tone yourself down to be understood. You get to show up as you are—messy, in progress, tender, whole. I offer a supportive, affirming, and nonjudgmental space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences with curiosity and compassion. My work is rooted in a trauma-informed, multicultural frame-work, because I know that our relationships—with family, partners, culture, and self—shape so much of how we move through the world. I’m especially passionate about supporting BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ folks, and anyone navigating the complexities of intersectional identities. Whether you’re wrestling with anxiety, navigating life transitions, working through relationship dynamics, or exploring identity, I’m here to help you reconnect—with yourself, your story, and your values. Together, we’ll look at the patterns that have helped you survive, even if they’re no longer serving you. We’ll unpack the unspoken “rules” you’ve been carrying, and gently build new ways of living that feel more aligned, grounded, and free. With individuals, our work might focus on: • Honoring your cultural and personal history while creating space for your own voice • Tending to the inner critic or survival modes that no longer reflect who you want to be • Cultivating emotional flexibility and self-compassion With couples and polycules, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help partners move beyond the surface-level conflicts and into the deeper emotions underneath. Often, what looks like disconnection is really a longing—to be seen, to be safe, to feel understood. We’ll slow things down, make space for those vulnerable moments, and help you learn how to reach for one another in ways that build trust, not distance. This work can be especially powerful for couples navigating cultural differences, unspoken family dynamics, or intergenerational expectations. Whether you're seeking therapy as an individual or as part of a couple or polycule, our work will move at your pace and be centered around your needs. You don’t have to hold it all together here. We’ll make room for your full self—your questions, your emotions, your healing. One step at time.

Are you stuck in constant worry, feeling mentally drained, or unsure how to slow down your thoughts? Struggling after a traumatic experience? Carrying grief from a loss—including the loss of a beloved pet—and feeling like others don’t fully understand? These challenges can make it hard to focus, stay motivated, and feel like yourself. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, past experiences, or uncertainty about your future, therapy can be a space to reset, heal, and gain clarity. I’m here to support you as you navigate life’s challenges and build the tools you need to move forward with confidence. My name is Ebony Yelder (she/her/hers), and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in counseling and psychiatric services. I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including behavioral health hospitals, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, in-home therapy, and with the Department of Defense supporting service members and their families. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, supportive, and centered around your unique experiences. Together, we’ll identify your strengths, work through what’s holding you back, and create a path toward greater balance, growth, and well-being.

The freedom of life after high school was supposed to feel different than this. The college and young adult years are full of possibility with new experiences, new independence, and the freedom to begin shaping life on your own terms. It’s exciting to explore who you are and what you want, with so many paths open ahead. But that same freedom has left you frozen in fear. With so many new experiences, choices, and no clear “right” answers, it’s easy to slip into second-guessing, pressure, or self-doubt. You’ve gone from knowing exactly what you were doing and excelling to feeling lost and suddenly feeling that perfect 4.0 slipping away. What should feel like possibility can quickly start to feel like a burden and you just want someone to tell you what to do with your life. I help high-achieving students like you gain clarity and perspective as they tackle these exciting, yet sometimes anxiety provoking, milestones because feeling at home in your studies, career, and connections is essential to living a fulfilled life.

My experiences as a queer, transgender man from the South inform how I move through the world and how I work with clients. I understand the challenges and inherent stress of navigating institutional, educational, and family systems that fail to make space for all identities and backgrounds. My approach is grounded in anti-oppressive and culturally affirming principles and I enjoy working with individuals of all backgrounds. I aim to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space where clients can experience and examine themselves and experiment with new skills and perspectives. I collaborate with clients to co-create realistic goals and sustainable solutions that honor and encompass their unique identities, challenges, and strengths. I have experience working with a variety of backgrounds and concerns and I have particular expertise working with gender identity and sexuality (LGBTQIA+), trauma, individuals living in larger bodies, individuals in helping professions, life transitions, and young adults. My commitment to social justice and advocacy extends to my work as a researcher and counselor educator-in-training. My primary areas of research are improving counselor training concerning LGBTQIA+ and larger-bodied individuals, demystifying research for students from marginalized backgrounds, and combating cisnormativity in counseling research.

Hi, I’m Dr. Ed Delgado-Romero —psychologist, father, professor, and lifelong advocate for social justice in higher education and mental health. For nearly 30 years, I’ve dedicated my career to breaking down barriers—especially for those who’ve been marginalized, dismissed, or treated as “other.” Whether in my work as a counseling center psychologist, a university professor, or a mentor to the next generation of culturally responsive therapists, my passion has remained the same: to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered in spaces that haven’t always welcomed them. In therapy, I believe that a healthy process leads to healthy outcomes. It can be hard to thrive when you’re constantly navigating invalidating or oppressive environments. I work alongside my clients to help them reconnect with their sense of purpose, rediscover inspiration, and reclaim their idealism—even when cynicism or burnout starts to creep in. I also believe deeply in the transformative power of therapy because I’ve experienced it myself. Like many, I hesitated to ask for help at first, but the support of trusted therapists truly changed my life. That’s why I bring warmth, honesty, and authenticity into the room. I understand the stigma some folks carry about therapy, and I honor the strength it takes to show up. I’m continually inspired by my clients’ resilience, insight, and creativity.

I work with young adults who are using alcohol and other substances to cope. Many of my clients are able to reduce their use through weekly counseling with me in combination with group therapy. For clients who need a higher level of care, I can help them identify the appropriate outpatient detox, residential detox, residential treatment or day program. I see clients in person on Roswell Road in Buckhead/Sandy Springs and online throughout Georgia. I also work with young adults struggling with mood disorders or who feel stuck and who want to launch richer, more purposeful lives. Many of my clients are dealing with problems related to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, or the difficult transition to adulthood. My clients learn skills to cope with big emotions in the moment, while also working to understand their core values, so that they can create a concrete action plan that aligns with who they really are. Prior to becoming a counselor, I taught creative writing. I use narrative therapy and creative writing prompts in my practice for clients who are interested. I have experience working with clients who are struggling with alcohol abuse and addiction. I work with clients curious about reducing their alcohol consumption and with newly sober clients who want support in their recovery. Christian worldview informs my practice, as I walk beside my clients in their understanding of who they are and who they want to become.

There are few things harder than asking for help. Sometimes people seek counseling for this help and sometimes they just want to make positive changes in their lives. I aim to build genuine and productive connections with clients, incorporating a relaxed setting and humor when appropriate. Counseling may be a hard journey, but things like trust and comfort level can create an ideal setting for growth. *I am currently taking on new clients. However, at this time I am not seeing couples, those struggling with eating disorders, or substance abuse. I most often handle cases related to depression, life transitions, women's issues, and anxiety or trauma. Feel free to contact me and see if I am a good fit for your needs. This profession has allowed me to meet a diverse group of people who have trusted me with their stories and struggles. We all have a unique story and I'd love to share in yours. It takes courage to seek help, so be proud of your first steps towards growth or change. At this time, I am only taking telehealth clients. I will be seeing all clients via HIPPA compliant Telehealth by the Simple Practice platform. www.thenorthropconnection.com. I am able to reply more quickly to emails.

Struggling to adjust to college life? Feeling stuck? Wondering why you keep finding yourself in the same struggle, experiencing the same pain or relationship issues, yet again? Or perhaps you feel invisible or unheard, or can't find your own voice? I work with clients to explore how unresolved issues from the past impact the present. In an open and safe environment, we explore authentic feelings and lost aspects of self often censored in general society, toward greater personal insight, growth and change. An accepting and validating therapy relationship can be a key element in the healing of old wounds and opening up of new possibilities. I work primarily from a psychodynamic and relational orientation to work with the deep long-term wounds, traumas, and patterns that shape self-perceptions and influence current experiences and struggles. I will incorporate other modalities as applicable. All genders, sexual orientations, and races/ethnicities welcome. I also offer Brainspotting, a cutting edge EMDR derivative, neurobiological trauma treatment. I am intensively trained in psychoanalytic theory and practice, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. I also bring over 25 years of corporate experience to my understanding of real world problems that clients struggle with.

I help people who are feeling overwhelmed get back on track. I assist young adults anxious about work or life and who need support and tools to move ahead. Clients of all ages may be going through challenges or life transitions that show up as anxiety or depression or just feeling stuck. I also work with individuals and couples who are stuck in relationship patterns that no longer work for them. I’m knowledgeable about a variety of techniques such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapy, but I use a variety of approaches to helping my clients. As you might expect from my location in the heart of Atlanta, my clients are a diverse group of men and women. I strive to be an anti-racist therapist responsive to the needs of Black clients and other people of color. As a gay man I strongly support empowerment of women. LGBTQ concerns are a special focus of mine; you have the right to expect your therapist to be comfortable and knowledgeable about your concerns. I’ve been in private practice in Atlanta for more than 30 years. I work out of comfortable and tranquil home office in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. (I also offer video sessions if that’s more convenient.) My clients find me engaged, supportive and nonjudgmental. Whether you’ve made use of counseling and therapy before or are seeking a counselor for the first time, I welcome questions you might have about working together.
