Navigating mental health can be intimidating, confusing, and exhausting. I commend you for taking the first steps and am here to support you along the way. Therapy is not one-size fits all— my approach is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and collaborative to prioritize each client's specific needs. I believe in the importance of building genuine therapeutic-relationships with clients to help them feel understood and empowered. I value your feedback to make sure we are working towards your goals. I hope to create a space that is warm, inviting, and celebrates your authentic self. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities, and specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients. Other areas of expertise include trauma, C-PTSD, anxiety, relationship diversity, and life transitions. My practice is dedicated to fostering social justice and challenging systems of oppression. Your story deserves to be heard. Together we will learn to embrace change and work towards achieving your mental health goals. Bela Luz Health, LLC was founded with the aim of providing high-quality clinical care and consultation services with a focus on inclusivity, compassion, and collaboration. We strive to collaborate with our clients to develop a tailored treatment plan that takes into account the particular needs and values of each client. We strive to provide a safe, warm, and authentic therapeutic space in which clients can develop a greater understanding of themselves and their relationships, create more positive patterns in how they relate to themselves and others, experience self-compassion and personal growth, and work toward their therapeutic and life goals in a meaningful way. We believe that context matters, and that our experiences in the world are shaped by the environments around us, including family, culture, country of origin, and other people and systems. We also believe that our multiple identities are important to consider in the context of therapy. We strive to honor your life experiences and your unique perspective of the world over the course of our work together, so that we can find the most useful approach to helping you move in the direction of your healing and growth.

I see College and Graduate students at all year levels. I work with individuals and couples ( married and unmarried, who are dissatisfied with or want to improve their partnerships). Even the best parts of your academic career -- having more control over your own life, living with new people, getting to know a new city, forming new relationships, coming out to yourself or others, learning and pursuing what interests and inspires you -- can create stress. Relating to your family may be complicated, particularly if there have been difficulties at home. Loss, divorce, illness, abuse or substance abuse may factor into your story. You may be the first person in your family to go to college or beyond. You may have a chronic medical condition, visible or invisible to others. Figuring out who you want to be and what you have to work with may be unnecessarily burdensome to do all by yourself. When you hit a bump in the road, psychotherapy can help you problem solve, understand yourself better and come up with new strategies to move forward. Getting to know yourself better can be an important part of your education. Getting a handle on anxiety and/or depression can be crucial to making life work for you. Individual or couple psychotherapy can sychotherapy, free up energy to pursue life goals and improve relationships. I have worked with college and graduate students, as individuals and in couples, for over 25 years both in a University Counseling Center and in my private practice. I also have trained other professionals to work with students Please see my website or Psychology today profile for more information about my practice with couples and individual adults. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/roberta-caplan-waltham-ma/113684 I offer a free telephone screening to see if working with me might meet your current needs. I accept BC/BS PPO plans (not HMO) and can provide documentation you would need for out-of-network benefits for other plans.

Life is all about relationships, whether it's with yourself, your partner(s), co-workers, family, or friends. Every interaction matters. How you react, communicate, and understand yourself, shapes the way you experience the world. No one really teaches us how to thrive in relationships. I offer a space where you can break out of old patterns, gain clarity, and make meaningful progress in your life and relationships. I work with individuals and couples who are motivated to do the work and embrace change. If you are ready to invest in yourself, I am currently accepting new clients via telehealth.

Do you struggle with daily negative thoughts and low mood? School or work stress? Feeling hopeless about the future and wondering if you will ever feel better? If so, I think we could be a good fit together in therapy. In sessions, I utilize a mix of actively listening and offering concrete tools to help you feel better and reach your goals. These tools are from research-backed treatments called cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I also enjoy incorporating my sense of humor and positive demeanor to help you feel understood and motivated during our treatment together. I am licensed in New York and Massachusetts. My practice is currently virtual. In addition to my private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where I teach psychology and psychiatry graduate students. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions! I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer your questions and see whether I would be a good fit for your therapy goals.

My clients are aware that something is not working and are motivated for change, even if they're not sure where exactly that change starts. My clients are often very conscious of the systemic stressors that make their lives more difficult, and come to me looking for support as they navigate challenges and imagine their futures. I specialize in identity exploration, trauma-focused practice, and LGBTQIA+ mental health. I use a blend of talk therapy and drama therapy to engage my clients in reflection on their present challenges from an embodied perspective, and provide a fuller understanding of how their past shows up in their present. I bring myself into my work, and hope to challenge the old idea that therapists inherently know more than their clients. You are the expert of your own life, and I would feel honored to be invited into your world. If you are interested in learning more about how I could support you, please be in touch.

If you are struggling to make sense of your emotions, connect with others in a meaningful way, feel stuck in old patterns, or navigate a life transition, Cassie might be a good fit. We often spend so much energy trying to figure out why we feel the way we do - only to end up exhausted, frustrated, and still unsure. In her work, she brings curiosity and non-judgment to the therapeutic space and support clients in moving toward greater self-understanding, acceptance, and compassion. Cassie specializes in working with adults of all ages going through life transitions - whether it’s a new job, a relationship shift, a move, or a change in identity or values. Transitions can stir up uncertainty, grief, or old emotional patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy can be a grounding space to explore these changes and find clarity and direction. She also specializes in supporting adults with ADHD and adults who are neurodivergent. Together, we can work to better understand your brain and experiences, develop strategies that align with how you function best, and celebrate strengths that may have been overlooked or misunderstood. Cassie’s approach is warm, thoughtful, and direct. She integrates practical tools into therapy to help you build insight and take meaningful steps forward. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply curious about yourself, therapy can be a space to reconnect - with your needs, your values, and your capacity for growth.
