Occupational therapy: Occupational therapists (OTs) work with individuals to engage in their meaningful activities. These activities can include self-care, leisure and social participation, work, school, household management, and other responsibilities. OTs provide interventions focused on skill-building, as well as finding environmental and activity adaptations, to best support an individual’s occupational engagement. Our practice focuses on supporting clients with routine and responsibility management, coping with stress and emotions, leisure and social engagement, and life skills/transition to adulthood. We work with youth (16+) and adults managing mental health conditions, executive functioning difficulties, and challenges navigating one’s daily life.
I have been working mainly with young adults in their 20s to 30s, especially Asian-Americans, who are dealing with the turning points in their lives such as career, relationships, family issues, and identities. I also work with bi-cultural, bi-racial couples, families, and their children.

I've been working individually with college students since 2003. I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders/disordered eating, body image issues, and perfectionism, but also treat clients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma histories/PTSD, relationship issues, family issues, life adjustment/transition issues.
At Ross & Associates, we are a dedicated group practice specializing in Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Phobias, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB), including Trichotillomania (hair pulling) and Dermatillomania (skin picking). I see College and Graduate students at all year levels. I work with individuals and couples ( married and unmarried, who are dissatisfied with or want to improve their partnerships). Even the best parts of your academic career -- having more control over your own life, living with new people, getting to know a new city, forming new relationships, coming out to yourself or others, learning and pursuing what interests and inspires you -- can create stress. Relating to your family may be complicated, particularly if there have been difficulties at home. Loss, divorce, illness, abuse or substance abuse may factor into your story. You may be the first person in your family to go to college or beyond. You may have a chronic medical condition, visible or invisible to others. Figuring out who you want to be and what you have to work with may be unnecessarily burdensome to do all by yourself. When you hit a bump in the road, psychotherapy can help you problem solve, understand yourself better and come up with new strategies to move forward. Getting to know yourself better can be an important part of your education. Getting a handle on anxiety and/or depression can be crucial to making life work for you. Individual or couple psychotherapy can sychotherapy, free up energy to pursue life goals and improve relationships. I have worked with college and graduate students, as individuals and in couples, for over 25 years both in a University Counseling Center and in my private practice. I also have trained other professionals to work with students Please see my website or Psychology today profile for more information about my practice with couples and individual adults. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/roberta-caplan-waltham-ma/113684 I offer a free telephone screening to see if working with me might meet your current needs. I accept BC/BS PPO plans (not HMO) and can provide documentation you would need for out-of-network benefits for other plans.

When we face difficulties, it can be helpful to organize our thoughts and feelings and understand our behaviors in order to facilitate meaningful change. Whether you are going through a life transition, navigating difficulties related to past traumas, enduring interpersonal difficulties, experiencing a loss, suffering from mental health symptoms, or in need of some support, it can be helpful to work with a mental health professional. As a licensed psychologist I look at my clients within a context of their environment, culture, values, and goals. I have worked with diverse adults experiencing various stressors that interefere with their everyday life with the goal of improving daily living. When working with clients, I used a strength-based approach and acknowledge that you are the expert. I work to validate your experience, while also encouraging you to change in a way that is more adaptive and allows for you to improve your everyday life.
Welcome! I offer clinical treatment to people experiencing trauma, mood disorders, & issues of identity (race, gender, sexuality, culture). I am South Asian, queer, and genderqueer (they/them). I am also an artist, and happy to incorporate creativity into our work together. No pressure, though! Traumatic experiences have a way of shackling themselves to the body, whether they are accumulated over time or single incidents which compromised our safety. We seek to protect ourselves from a world that has failed to protect us, often coping in ways that hurt in the long run. In our work together we will identify sources of pain, the impact they have on your life, & determine ways to reclaim power so that your body becomes a place of safety rather than a site of trauma. Come as you are. My goal is to be both a gentle witness and an ally, helping you to find & stand in your power, identifying disparities & restoring balance in your life. I believe you are here because you are ready to value & give yourself a chance to shape your future with your own hands. I couldn't be more hopeful for you.
Hi there! I’m Eric, and I provide therapy online (by video) to clients located anywhere in Massachusetts. I have immediate openings, and offer a free 15-minute video consultation so that we can meet each other and make sure it seems like a fit as far as what you’re looking for and what I offer. I often work with college students seeking support around depression, anxiety, isolation, trauma, and a variety of life stressors and transitions. My specialties include bereavement/grief, substance use, LGBTQ+ identity, people who have experienced domestic violence, impacts of oppression, and musicians facing performance-related anxiety. Additionally, I offer assessments and letter writing for people in need of a letter of support from a mental health professional for gender-affirming surgeries. I deeply believe that your perspectives and experiences matter, and I see you as the expert on your own life. Therapy is an opportunity for us to collaboratively explore what is important to you. Working together, we can draw on your values, preferences, knowledge, skills, and hopes in discussing how to navigate challenges in your life. My warmth, respect, curiosity, and patience help create a supportive environment for these conversations. I have a strong belief in the importance of social justice and equality, and strive to make therapy a comfortable and inclusive place for all clients.
College years can bring about unexpected challenges that many people don't feel prepared for. From being away from home, managing your classes, extra curricular and having a social life this time can be a lot to manage. If you're noticing increased worrying to the point where you feel frozen, increased sadness, and decreased desire to do things which you once enjoyed, therapy might be supportive to you. I can support you in managing the worries, sadness, and stress you're feeling in order to have a more enjoyable college experience.
I work with anxious, overwhelmed women, including college students, young adults, millennials, and moms, who often feel stuck in their heads, emotionally drained, or unsure of themselves despite appearing capable and successful on the outside. You may be struggling with overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, stress, social anxiety, self-doubt, burnout, life transitions, or the pressure of trying to keep up with everyone's expectations while figuring out what you truly want for yourself. Using CBT, mindfulness, and holistic approaches, I help you better understand your patterns, manage anxiety, navigate big emotions, build self-confidence, and create healthier boundaries. Together, we'll work toward reducing overwhelm, quieting your inner critic, and helping you feel more grounded, balanced, and connected to what matters most. Therapy is an opportunity to slow down, gain clarity, explore your identity and goals, and develop practical tools to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. Whether you're adjusting to college, navigating a major life transition, struggling with relationships, or simply feeling lost, stuck, or overwhelmed, you don't have to figure it out alone. If you're ready to take the next step, I'd be honored to support you.
I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families. My experience has shown that change is typically hard work and often requires compassionate and collaborative support in order to build new skills. I see clients in both Oregon and Massachusetts and I offer a 30 minute free video or phone consultation to see if I am the right fit for you.
