Hi, my name is Jonah Bayer and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Massachusetts. I primarily work with students on anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the music industry for two decades and also specialize in the unique challenges and pressures that can occur in creative collaborations. I give my clients a roadmap for personalized therapeutic goals, developing targeted coping skills and identifying triggers that may be unconsciously holding them back from living in a value-driven manner. " I use a blend of modalities, including DBT, EMDR and mindfulness skills in a holistic way to help work through issues that might be holding you back. My practice is unique due to my own life informed experience as a musician, journalist and psychotherapist. I truly believe that becoming less identified with unhelpful thought patterns can be truly liberating—yet it takes practice. I am passionate about helping my clients reach their goals and improve the ways they move through the world.

It's wonderful you're taking the step to care for your mental health! I have a heart for college and graduate students and understand the unique stressors of university life, such as academic pressure, social anxieties, and the transition to independence. I am also passionate about helping individuals explore how their cultural and ethnic identities and upbringing interplay with their mental well-being, including the experiences related to cultural identity and navigating multiple cultural spaces. My background as a teacher, HR professional, writer, wife, mother, and therapist has broadened my empathy and understanding of diverse experiences. I graduated with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University and am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a well-researched method for trauma. I offer a collaborative therapeutic approach, and utilize many researched methods tailored to your individual needs. I understand that family history and early relationships can significantly impact mental health, so I often begin by exploring these areas. Together, we'll create a plan to achieve your goals. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, but I have a special fondness of college and graduate students during this unique time of exploration and adjustment. Please reach out, and let's figure things out together!

Finding the right therapist matters, and starting therapy can feel vulnerable. I aim to create a warm, supportive space where you feel understood, respected, and empowered. My goal is for therapy to be both practical and reflective—a place for insight, growth, and genuine change. I’m a licensed clinical psychologist working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, emotion dysregulation, increased stress, and life transitions. I work with individuals at different stages of life, including adults, adolescents, and children, and I also support parents as they navigate their own challenges and transitions. My approach to therapy is collaborative, flexible, and grounded in evidence-based practices, including CBT and DBT. I believe therapy should move at a pace that honors where you are and what you’re ready for. Together, we’ll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors connect, and work toward changes that feel both meaningful and sustainable. My background: I earned my doctorate degree (PsyD) in Combined School and Clinical Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. My professional experiences include work in community mental health, college counseling, and private practice settings, where I’ve provided evidence-based treatment to individuals across the lifespan. I also have experience supervising PhD/PsyD students and post-doctoral fellows.
I offer 60 minute sessions and specialize in half day therapy retreats. A therapy retreat is an efficient and comprehensive pathway to heal trauma in consecutive days instead of over many years in weekly therapy, and can accelerate symptom relief. I utilize evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, Progressive Counting, and the Flash Technique to effectively heal the roots of distressing emotions and negative beliefs stored within traumatic memories. I bring my passion for somatic psychology, trauma-sensitive mindfulness, and attachment theory to my therapeutic approach. I invite my clients to offer a gentle curiosity to all parts of themselves, so that together we may attune to what the body, heart, and spirit are most needing to restore wholeness. I offer Telehealth and in-person sessions at my Portland Old Port office. I welcome the opportunity to hear from you to determine if my services are a good fit for what you are seeking.

I also speak Portuguese fluently. Young adults often express finding it easy to connect with me, and say that "she gets me." My practice is solution focused and tailored to each individual. I want you to leave feeling like you've gained something from our meeting. Clients appreciate my emphatic, enthusiastic, and direct nature. Immediate Openings - Mornings, Afternoons, Early Evenings. Hi. I’m Sheena (she/her), a mental health counselor licensed in Massachusetts. I work with individual clients via telehealth Monday through Thursday. As a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) myself, I specialize in working with other HSPs (wondering if you might be highly sensitive? Take the self-assessment: https://hsperson.com/test/highly-sensitive-test/). Together, we’ll identify your strengths that you can use to manage the challenges that can come with being highly sensitive (including overwhelm, sensory sensitivities, and irritability). As a member of the queer community, it has been important to me to support LGBTQ+ clients throughout my career. For some clients, their gender identity and sexual orientation is a major part of our work together. For others, it’s reassuring to know they’re working with a supportive, affirming therapist. I am a Certified Body Trust® Provider, meaning I help clients work on their relationship with food and themselves from a weight-inclusive, health-at-every-size stance. Additional areas of focus include anxiety, grief, stress management, self-care, finding your purpose, and relationships. I bring empathy and curiosity into my work as a therapist. I aim to honor the wide spectrum and intersectionality of different cultures, neurotypes, sexuality, and gender of my clients, though there is always more for me to learn. I pull from different modalities to meet your unique needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and internal family systems. I am trauma- and neurodiverse-informed. I believe the answers you seek are within you and I am here as a support and guide on your path toward growth, healing, and wellness. I love to use humor in sessions when appropriate. I take a balanced, gentle approach by supporting you to process how you’re feeling and what you’ve experienced. I also think it’s useful for you to learn skills and take action steps in and between sessions to support the change you’re seeking. I am truly honored to be welcomed into your world.
College is such an important time. You’re learning and growing in classes, and you’re also figuring out who you want to be in the world. Being away from home, navigating friendships and relationships, and making decisions about your future can be exciting, but they can also feel lonely, confusing, or overwhelming. If you’re feeling unsure of yourself or of your path, you’re not alone. I love working with college students and offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk things through, make sense of what you’re feeling, and learn to advocate for what you need. We’ll work together to help you feel more grounded, confident, and at home in your life. I look forward to hearing your story and supporting you as you build the life you want.
Greetings, I am an 11 year Marine Corps veteran (2003 to 2014), experienced in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. My main approach is person centered with a spattering of CBT, ACT, and REBT. Feel free to chat with me a bit and see if we work well together. I completed my master's in mental health counseling at Cambridge College in 2022, worked in a psychiatric hospital in a dual diagnosis role from 2022 to 2023, and moved on to community mental health where I worked as an outpatient clinician from 2023 to 2024, earning my licensure in December of that year.
I am currently scheduling patients for both in-person (PA/NJ) and telehealth (PA/NJ/MA) appointments. I welcome patients who are looking for medication management, therapy, a second opinion, or any combination of the above. My interests include diagnostic clarification of mood/anxiety/attention disorders, evaluation of young adults who may be seeking help for the first time, and treatment of substance use disorders that often present with other common diagnoses. I offer comprehensive treatment, taking into consideration not only whether a patient has a medical illness, but also discussing lifestyle, substance use, relationships and other factors that could be affecting an individual's mental health. When indicated, I may recommend the use of psychiatric medications in conjunction with therapy.
