I help people navigate life transitions (chosen or unchosen), grief/loss, unresolved trauma, family dysfunction and more. Therapy is tailored to each client and I draw from a variety of theoretical perspectives (insight-oriented, development of skills, relational). I am also a trauma-informed therapist with specialty training in the treatment of trauma and its impact on an individual's well-being and ability to cope. Trauma-informed psychotherapy integrates an awareness of trauma into all aspects of treatment while making safety and choice a priority. I am trained in EMDR therapy.

Do you have a place where you can be truly heard? Therapy can be that safe, accepting place and that's what I strive to create with you: somewhere for you to bring whatever it is that you're struggling with or the stuff that feels too heavy to bear alone. Maybe your challenges are preventing you from enjoying satisfaction and contentment. Perhaps you are in a period of transition and therapy could be a space to think through decisions so you can feel more confident about your choices. Or maybe you're struggling in a relationship to overcome old patterns that have limited you until now. The good news is that you don't have to face any of this alone. I have accompanied people through these and many other issues, and in therapy we'll identify what is holding you back and help you pick up new tools to tackle these challenges. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, and specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Contact me today to find out whether we're a good fit to work together!

I respond to everyone who makes an inquiry. College and grad school can be incredibly stressful in the best of circumstances, and there is always something... extra. :) I see lots of students and have helped them find peace with social or academic pressure, present or past family problems and new or re-surfacing mental health issues. I am low-key and easy to talk to, with a dry sense of humor. I will quickly understand and help with the issue you want to address, not tell you what I think you should change. I want you to be able to talk about what really matters, feel understood and seen, and become the person you want to be. Over my 25 years in the field I have worked with a wide diversity of people. Not much surprises me, and I’m very nonjudgmental. I have worked to understand racism and oppression, and poverty, and violence, and am also aware I still have a lot to learn. My clinical social work education was in traditional psychodynamic therapy with a strong social justice awareness. I have worked in multicultural and multilingual settings most of my career. I have certificates in the treatment of trauma and also in psychoanalytic studies. I am now training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and like how non-judgmental it is. My approach is eclectic, and has evolved over the years to be flexible and practical, tuning in to what will be helpful and effective for you. I like to work with young adults, parents, and students, and here are some areas in which I’ve helped people: -Childhood experiences that bother people or create difficulties -Anxiety -Young adulthood/ leaving home adjustment -Immigrant/ first generation acculturation, and adjustment to college -Substance use questions or problems, including historical family issues -Relationships and sexuality, including non-traditional situations -Grief, even about secrets -LGBTQIA+ concerns and family issues -Workplace challenges -Parenting, adjustment to becoming a parent -Depression Our first couple meetings would focus on whether what I have to offer is a good fit for you. I can work in a solution-focused way for just a few meetings, or longer-term. I wish you the best!

Therapy enables us to heal ourselves and sharpen access to our wisest intuition. As your therapist, I will provide a comfortable space for self-reflection, where you will come to understand yourself at the deepest level. In our work together, you will learn to nurture yourself as you build inner strength and serenity. I’ve worked in community mental health, psychiatric hospitals, outpatient treatment centers, and private practice. Driven by curiosity, empathy, and integrity, my approach is built on the belief that every person is capable of growth. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling seen and understood, and to end therapy as your most authentic self. Though there is always darkness in life, I believe light can be found by those who want to see it. I am not afraid of the dark. Bring me your darkness—your pain, your confusion, your hurt—and we will walk together as you find your guiding lights.

I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal therapy — but more importantly, I meet you where you are. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. You’re the expert in your story, and we’ll work together to develop tools, process challenges, and celebrate growth, big or small. I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults managing academic pressure, identity concerns, anxiety, and trauma. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and responsive to the needs of each individual person within the general contexts of multicultural sensitivity and a strong therapeutic relationship. Best summarized through Paul’s (1967) question: “What treatment, by whom, is most effective for this individual with that specific concern, and under which set of circumstances?" I have extensive experience working and training in University Counseling Centers (i.e., Penn State University Graduate Assistant, Pre-doctoral internship at Suffolk University, Post-doctoral Fellow at Tufts University followed by three years as a Staff Psychologist at Tufts). My clinical interests include college student mental health, in general; stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal concerns, drug and alcohol use/misuse/abuse; Men’s issues; Childhood trauma; Working with students on the Autism Spectrum; Identity concerns; Relationship concerns; Issues of diversity and inclusion.
