As humans, we inherently seek meaningful connection and understanding. When our emotions, experiences, and struggles go unseen or unheard, we may feel distressed, isolated, and even question our sense of self. In my practice, I take an integrative, client-centered, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approach to therapy—one that honors the complexities of your lived experiences while affirming your individuality. Rooted in the principles of social justice, embodied social justice, anti-oppression, and queer affirmation, my work ensures that therapy is not just a space for healing but also one for empowerment. I believe that understanding ‘what’ has shaped your experiences offers insight into ‘why’ you might think, feel, and behave the way you do. This awareness allows us to collaboratively explore ‘how’ we can help you achieve your goals and foster meaningful growth – holistically. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." I am committed to providing a space where you feel truly seen, understood, and comfortable—one where you can explore, embrace, and reconnect with your most authentic self.

There are times when life brings us challenges and presents us with unexpected or difficult situations. We may not always feel in control over the events in our lives. Stress, anger, fear, anxiety, sadness can often become overwhelming. We may not know which way to turn for support or understand how to bring about the positive changes we’d like to see happen. Change is possible. You have taken the most important first step--reaching out--and I am here to work with you, making your goals realities. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) with over twenty years of experience working with individuals and families. My approach to counseling is non-judgmental, integrative, and collaborative. I work with you so that, together, we can meet your goals. Expressive Therapy is an important approach I use in therapy and it involves engaging in activities like drawing, storytelling, music, writing as part of the process towards a deeper understanding. It provides the means for us to explore and share authentically who we are, our pain, our joy, and to welcome the support of others on our journey.
Lainie Murray, Murray Psychological Services
You don’t have to be falling apart to deserve support. Maybe you’re functioning well on the outside, but internally you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, self-critical, or unsure of how to move forward. Many of my clients come to therapy in the midst of life transitions or relationship challenges, seeking relief from anxiety, depression, and (diagnosed or suspected) ADHD. I offer a space to slow down, feel understood, and become more curious about your experiences without judgment. We can work together to help you find relief and develop a deeper, more compassionate understanding of yourself.

Life is full of uncertainty, changes, losses, gains, and growth. Some are expected, some are not. Therapy can help you give voice to your own narratives, make sense of experiences, better understand and embrace who you are, and empower yourself for meaningful changes. This is a journey to enhance relationship with self and others, to extend the sense of safety and belonging, to know the art of accepting and forgiving, to be in touch with resiliency, to move toward self-compassion, and to have the courage of fully being and thriving. Being bilingual, I do therapy in English and Mandarin, with specialties in cross cultural adjustment, identity development, interpersonal relationships, family issues, grief and loss. I enjoy helping individuals who are going through life transitions and needing help and support on battling self critic, experiencing marginalization, and being a POC in a PWI. Therapeutic relationship is dear to my heart. I approach therapy with respect, curiosity, empathy, thoughtfulness, and collaboration. My style is warm, relational, strength based, integrative with multicultural lens and mindfulness approach. If you are interested in learning more about my practice, or have any questions to me, please contact me by phone or email.

College is a stressful time full of academic demands and social obligations, and everyone needs a space where they can focus on themselves. Clients that work with me are often experiencing big life changes, may be showing signs of stress and burnout, or might be noticing challenges popping up in their relationships. I work to form a strong therapeutic relationship with clients in which they can feel comfortable openly expressing their emotions, work through challenges, or just learn more about who they are. I welcome any client who is looking for a therapeutic space of their own, whether they have years of therapy under their belt or are reaching out for the first time!

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic work, and mindfulness guide my work with clients. It is my goal to ensure clients feel safe, heard, and at the center of their treatment. I believe it is crucial to consider all aspects of a person’s identity to genuinely connect with each other and achieve the personal growth we all seek. My hope is to work together to build upon your strengths to help you progress in a positive and healthy manner and achieve your therapeutic goals.
A New Approach
In our work together I would take a blended therapeutic approach and individualize treatment based on your personal needs, strengths, and goals. My professional journey is deeply rooted in a commitment to fostering healing and resilience in the lives of individuals facing emotional challenges. I have worked for over 15 years with children, adolescents, teens, and adults who feel overwhelmed with worry, stress, and trauma. One of the most rewarding age groups I work with are young adults, navigating transition to college and their experiences throughout. Their progress and bravery has inspired me to narrow my focus to deliver the highest quality care with empathy and thoughtfulness. My focus has been dialectical behavior therapy, treating anxiety with cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, helping clients find a life worth living beyond their depression, combining behavioral interventions with cognitive strategies, and helping clients take control of their lives by actively making changes. Our past experiences contribute to who we are today but do not have to control our future.

My clients struggle with family issues, existential concerns, self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach is person-centered and relational, and I also pull from modalities such as CBT, DBT, and ACT. I focus on treating individuals with respect and integrity when they are at their most vulnerable. I also have a passion for working with athletes. I value bringing mental health support to sports. I focus on the emotional wellbeing of high-performing athletes in order for them to reach the next level of performance. Are you looking for a neutral person to lend an open ear? A box of tissues? A high-five? Or some sound advice? Therapy can provide you all of those things and lead to a transformation in your life. I have seen it first hand in my work with individuals and families. They initially feel very overwhelmed and hopeless. Once we establish a relationship, push through the resistance to change and the "hard stuff"; new chapters quickly start to write themselves. This is the most rewarding part of my career, helping others see their true potential.
