Therapists for college students near Boston, MA
Hello there, Feeling stuck? Feeling stressed out about all the things that are competing for your attention? Wanting to change your relationship with yourself, so you can spread your wings and soar? I'm Stefan (he/him) and I want to be there on your journey. Starting therapy can feel scary, even if you've been in therapy before! To lower that intensity a bit, I want you to give you an idea of how I show up to sessions: - I get to know you - your family, friends, hobbies, shows, loves, fears, passions. - I celebrate and hype you up when you do the hard thing. - I ask questions to get you curious about patterns in your life, and point out when you might not be aware of them. - I offer compassion when your mind creates judgments about yourself. - I welcome and ask for feedback, knowing some things will land and others will not. - I laugh with you and value humor. - I tear up when you feel hurt or uncover a tender spot (while also holding space for you to feel). - I'll tell you I'm proud of you. - I nerd out about mental health, skills, approaches, and explain concepts in a way you'll understand. - I slow down and speed up based on your cues, and I give you choice in how we go about sessions. - I'm always working on our relationship, so there's trust and security when we get to difficult things. - I acknowledge the bigger systems of oppression that affect your life and lives of your loved ones. - I'm active and dynamic in sessions - sometimes asking questions, leading an activity, listening and reflecting, interrupting to highlight something you said, and synthesizing information and summarizing it back to you. All of this "I" is the effort I put into helping you get to "you": what you want, what you care about, your goals, dreams, your emotions, stressors, internal talk, and who you want to become and how you want to show up in life. Specialties: queer and trans identities and lived experiences, anxiety and depression, perfectionism, substance use, navigating family dynamics, healing trauma, couples and relationship work, career discernment Approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR; trauma approach), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method (for relationship work), mindfulness and somatic interventions I'm an associate counselor, seeing clients through telehealth in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California. About me: I have a strong belief in therapy because I've successfully used it. I've had my own personal exploration into suffering and I've made my way out of these fogs by utilizing the support of others. It is my experience that no one lives their best life alone. Connection has the capacity to offer regulation and engender strength. I honor my sense of humanity that allows me to tend and befriend others, and take joy in my sense of playfulness that can bring a smile or a laugh to someone at the just the right moment. About my work: I work through an integrated lens, currently drawing on EFT, neuroscience, mindfulness, and positive psychology to explore how lifestyle, relationships, and early experiences shape our wellbeing. I also use the power of storytelling to help reframe the limiting narratives we carry about ourselves. Lately, I've been doing meaningful work with clients navigating OCD tendencies, using approaches including ERP and ACT. I am also working to expand my expertise through continued education in somatic approaches, chronic illness and premenstrual disorders, to support the full complexity of what my clients carry. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, to help people trust themselves again, and to help them recommit to life — through the big things and the small. About my credentials: I graduated from Lesley University with a MA in Mental Health Counseling in 2018. I am a Massachusetts licensed mental health counselor with experience in a variety of outpatient therapeutic settings. I welcome your questions.

As a therapist, I partner with you to make sense of your story. Through this work, we often discover together that what’s happening for you in the present makes perfect sense given what you’ve lived through so far and the forces that have shaped you. With this understanding, you can more easily access softness toward yourself and others, and even find other ways of being. I primarily practice from relational psychodynamic and trauma perspectives, drawing from neurodevelopmental, family systems, and body-based frames as appropriate. As a social worker, I am attuned to the ways that systems of power and oppression contribute to experiences of mental health.
Life can be overwhelming. There are many things to address, or things we want to work on, but we often don’t know where to start. You don’t have to figure out it all out overnight. You don’t have to feel ashamed for being where you are. All you have to focus on is one small thing you can do today to get closer to where you want to be in life. Slowly, one step at a time, you can get there. That one step could be reaching out to a therapist to have non-judgmental support through this process. This is where I can help. I provide a therapeutic space to explore struggles in a relaxed manner. You take the lead, I am a supporting role. I offer different perspectives, brainstorming ideas, coping strategies, & practicing what you want to improve. Working for almost 10 yrs. has trained me in numerous styles of therapy, so I think outside the box & pull from various strategies to help you find the right tools for your situation. Online Only. I am able to work with issues related to: grief/loss, depression, anxiety, caregiver/parent support, relationships, trauma, and life changes. If you're interested in seeing if I'm a good fit for your needs, & would like to start your therapy journey, please reach out via email. I look forward to hearing your story & being a part of your journey.
Hello, my name is Robert! I specialize in concerns affecting college students, including changing family dynamics, ADHD, career concerns, Obsessive Compulsive Concerns, anxiety/study stressors and relationships.
I have a Master's in Expressive Therapies and I enjoy helping people work through and find ways to overcome problems with family, relationships, work, or school, and figuring out how to navigate life's exciting but stressful transitions. I aim to give you a sense of agency in therapy and in life by collaborating with you to define your own goals based on what's important to you. I can help you engage your imagination through different ways of expressing yourself (through images, movement, sound, words, play, etc.) in order to define your goals, gain insight into your challenges, shift perspective, and find new ways to get unstuck.

I enjoy providing a compassionate, emotionally-attuned space for you to understand how earlier life experiences have influenced your thoughts, feelings and behaviors- whether you are embarking on your own self-discovery journey, navigating a difficult life transition, processing a painful past experience, or managing persistent thoughts and feelings that you are unsure how to change. Drawing from my own experience as a first-generation queer Latinx, I strive to create an accessible, inclusive and validating space in which you can explore your own authenticity and cultivate your own empowerment. I work with you to integrate your physical and cognitive experiences- identifying patterns that stand in the way of the life you desire. In addition, I utilize EMDR, CBT and solution-focused techniques to support your transition from thought to action.
We know that searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, we'd like to be there for your second. Our clinicians focus on creating an empathic environment where you feel safe and relaxed, and where we can use every tool available to brighten your present and empower your future.
