Hi, and welcome! If you’ve realized that something in your life has been tough or that you need some support, you’re in the right place. I know that life’s challenges can be incredible difficult, especially when a history of trauma impacts your ability to cope. In therapy, I see each client as a whole person to understand how your environment affects your well-being. I use a strengths-based and culturally sensitive lens combined with warmth, humor, and directness to build trust, which becomes a foundation to collaboratively navigate challenging or traumatic memories, build coping skills, and make positive changes in your life. I have worked with preteens, adolescents, and adults dealing with complex trauma, PTSD, burnout, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and eating disorders in both outpatient and partial hospitalization settings. I have experience with multiple evidence-based modalities, and use various aspects of these modalities to individualize treatment for each unique person. Trusting someone to join you in your healing process is incredibly courageous, and I am grateful for every opportunity I have to support each client on their journey. I take pride in helping clients feel empowered and in control, both in and out of therapy. If you would like to work together, please send me an email or set up a free phone consultation!

There are times when life brings us challenges and presents us with unexpected or difficult situations. We may not always feel in control over the events in our lives. Stress, anger, fear, anxiety, sadness can often become overwhelming. We may not know which way to turn for support or understand how to bring about the positive changes we’d like to see happen. Change is possible. You have taken the most important first step--reaching out--and I am here to work with you, making your goals realities. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) with over twenty years of experience working with individuals and families. My approach to counseling is non-judgmental, integrative, and collaborative. I work with you so that, together, we can meet your goals. Expressive Therapy is an important approach I use in therapy and it involves engaging in activities like drawing, storytelling, music, writing as part of the process towards a deeper understanding. It provides the means for us to explore and share authentically who we are, our pain, our joy, and to welcome the support of others on our journey.

I am a thoughtful, warm professional with a good sense of humor. My primary training is in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which I integrate with other treatment modalities. I tailor my approach to meet the individual needs of my clients. My aim is to provide a supportive atmosphere where clients can work towards their goals, while learning practical strategies and skills that offer relief. I have experience in treating a range of health issues, with particular specialization in the following areas: anxiety disorders (including OCD), depression, sleep disturbance, and coping with chronic medical issues (including pain disorders and gastrointestinal diseases). I also enjoy working with individuals going through significant transitions, such as adjustment to college.

In my counseling work I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. My clients include people struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. My relational and existential approach helps me understand and connect with my clients. I believe that the intent of therapy is exchanging "symptoms" for "coping skills." To accomplish this transformation, we need to understand our past to shed light on who we are in the present, where we have the power to focus on present issues and make changes that will influence our future. I see psychotherapy as a learning process. I bring my knowledge and understanding of psychological phenomena to bear on my client's life experiences. Psychotherapy is not an easy process, but I work to meet you, the client, where you are and to create safe space to explore and grow. In addition to psychotherapy work, I'm an adjunct faculty at Lesley University, where I teach Introduction to Psychology and Child Psychology. I have completed my psychoanalysis fellowship with the IPE, which is affiliated with the New York University School of Medicine. I'm also a certified Cognitive Behavioral group therapist.

We live in a stressful world where everyone is struggling. The current global crisis compiled with our personal life experiences have created a sense of overwhelm, burnout, isolation and disconnection. And our life journeys are full of crisis, loss, grief, and trauma. These experiences activate fear, alter patterns of behavior, create limitations in perception, relationship issues, low self-esteem, addictions, negative thought patterns and a multitude of mental and physical health symptoms. An accumulation of these unprocessed emotions and unresolved traumas can weaken the spirit, affecting one’s core vitality for life. Kellyann is nurturing by nature and creates a safe and compassionate environment where trust is easily built within the therapeutic relationship, so that healing can take place. Kellyann is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who employs a holistic and spiritual approach to healing. She works with her clients to dissolve layers of trauma, reprogram beliefs, connect to their emotions in healthy ways, and empowers people to achieve whatever it is they are seeking. She works with her clients to search for the stuck points and old wounds that may be getting in the way of finding the happiness they desire and deserve. Kellyann’s counseling sessions are built on a holistic model where she applies multiple approaches based on what a client wants and needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is used to support clients with managing their symptoms in healthy ways. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is used to assist clients with learning how to process the emotions they find intolerable. Psychoanalysis allows Kellyann to look for healing at the root cause. Internal Family Systems teaches an individual what they may need and identify ways to receive it. Mindfulness allows clients to accept their truth even when what have happened to them may have been extremely wrong and unfair and Trauma Processing allows for clients to create a healthy connection to their experiences through a narrative. Spirituality invites the opportunity to see a possibility for hope even one is nowhere in sight. Kellyann works with people who are struggling with a variety of mental health problems as well as clients seeking life skills and tools for coping in our stressful world. At Windward Mental Health in Dedham, we’re here for college students from the surrounding towns—think Wellesley College, Babson, Lasell University, or Regis College—who are navigating the chaos of student life while wrestling with mental health struggles. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is perfect for students like you—maybe a Wellesley undergrad feeling crushed by perfectionism, a Babson entrepreneur battling anxiety that’s tanking your focus, or a Lasell student quietly dealing with depression after a rocky semester. We connect best with those who are juggling classes, part-time jobs, or campus activities, but are hitting a wall with stress, mood swings, or even past tough experiences that keep creeping back. We thrive with students who want to tackle things like overwhelming worry, low energy, or habits they’ve picked up to cope—like too much drinking or scrolling—that aren’t helping anymore. You might be someone who’s sick of faking it through group projects or dorm hangouts, or who’s reeling from a big life shake-up, like losing a friend or failing a class you worked hard for. Our clients often just want to feel steady again—to get back to crushing that presentation, enjoying a night out, or even just sleeping without overthinking everything. Right off Route 128 in Dedham, we’re an easy trip from Needham, Westwood, or Newton, with a schedule that works around your college life—daytime sessions that let you still make that afternoon lecture or evening shift. Whether you’re the overachiever who’s burned out, the quiet one hiding how rough it’s been, or the social butterfly who’s lost your spark, our IOP gives you a judgment-free spot to figure it out with a team that gets what being a student around here is like. If you’re ready to take charge of your mental health and still keep your college groove, we’re here to help you feel stronger and more like yourself.

College can feel like a mix of excitement and pressure all at once. Between academics, relationships, figuring out who you are, and trying to keep up with everything, it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like you’re just barely holding it together. In therapy, I try to create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and work together to find ways to feel more grounded and more like yourself again. I really believe people already have strengths in them, even if it doesn’t feel accessible in the moment. My job is to help you reconnect with those strengths and figure out how to use them in real life, especially during stressful or confusing seasons. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and big life transitions. I use approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and body-based (somatic) work to help you understand what you’re feeling and actually shift it in a practical, supportive way. My fee for a 50-minute session is $180. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($90–$100) to help make therapy more accessible.
