As a counselor, my professional identity is one of authenticity, curiosity, and empathy. I care deeply about helping my clients improve their lives. I believe that starts with the two of us forming a genuine connection so that I can best understand your personality, your worldview, and the problems you are facing – the world can be a tough place and we all have times when we could use someone to listen and understand us. I will repeatedly check in with you to assess your goals for therapy and make sure that we are making progress towards meeting those goals. In our sessions, I will use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reduce the types of thinking that can lead to negative emotions. I will also incorporate other techniques such as mindfulness meditation that many clients find useful. Together, we will work as a team to confront the issues that are troubling you. I received my BS in Biology from Duke University and my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I've also been a research assistant in Princeton University's departments of social psychology and neuroscience. I try to stay up to date with current research and use only empirically validated modalities with my clients.
I am Anita Daniels, a licensed clinical social worker and addictions specialist. I have a sports counseling certificate from PennWest California in PA. My sessions are virtual; however, I occasionally meet athletes in person particularly when I'm in close proximity. I look forward to supporting you through your athletic and personal journeys! Pro D~
Hi, I’m Elaina, a bilingual (Spanish/English), trauma-informed therapist who works virtually with college students navigating anxiety, family stress, cultural identity, and past trauma. I’m here for students who may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck trying to manage school, relationships, and expectations, especially first-gen students, students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, and those who carry the weight of childhood or generational trauma. You don’t have to sort through it all alone. My approach is gentle, supportive, and empowering. We’ll go at your pace and focus on what matters most to you, whether that’s setting boundaries, healing from the past, or finding your voice. Therapy with me is a space where all parts of you are welcome.
If you've found your way here, something in you is already reaching toward healing. That takes courage. And I don't take that lightly. Maybe you're the one everyone else leans on. The one who keeps it together at work, at home, in every room that needs you while quietly wondering when someone is going to show up for you. Maybe you've been carrying the weight of trauma, navigating anxiety or depression, or simply running on empty for so long that you can't quite remember what full felt like. You don't have to keep doing it alone. I'm Alexandria "Alex" Cooke, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and I created this space specifically for high achieving women, women of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, caregivers, and teens 16+ who are ready to stop surviving and start living. I know this world firsthand and I built this practice because I believe the people who spend their lives holding space for others deserve a space of their own. Here, you are not too much. You are not broken. You are not behind. You are a whole person who has been through real things and healing is not only possible for you, it is something you are already moving toward just by being here. No judgment. No pressure. No timeline that isn't yours. You belong here. Let's begin.
Everyone can benefit from therapy. How often in your day to day do you have an hour where you’re fully seen, heard, and encouraged? That’s what therapy should provide. Too often therapy is misrepresented and clients stigmatized as weak or ill when, in fact, the strongest thing you can do is seek help. Let me help you through your darkest of times or your day to day concerns. There is no issue too big or too small to conquer. I believe everyone has the capacity for self-healing and change and that my role as a counselor is to support clients on their journey towards healing. I'm passionate about helping others through the daily challenges of life and trauma. With special consideration of how power, oppression, and the collective unconscious affect our individual well-being. As a black queer Liberian-American woman I draw from my personal cultural background to encourage clients to embrace and reconcile their own identities and experiences as they heal.
You deserve an authentic therapist that doesn’t rely on gimmicks and mind tricks. We believe in high-quality services (just like you would expect when paying for childcare, dental work, car maintenance, or pizza). We help you through your mental health journey in the way that works for you— because that’s the respect you deserve. Our online counselors in North Carolina are authentic people and know what it’s like to sit in the client’s seat. Using that experience and our knowledge, we provide you with what clients have proclaimed “the best counseling” they have received. Here’s the truth about therapy: you’re what really matters. And that’s exactly why we at C&C Betterworks have decided to put the focus back on you. You often feel like the odd one out. You don’t want to feel that way in therapy, too! With us you do not have to hide anything. With our online counseling in North Carolina, we encourage you to be authentic in therapy, no matter what that looks like. Let’s keep it real. You bring your whole, true self. And we’ll bring our whole, true selves to every session The only thing that matters is that you’re being the real you. No psychology jargon or “how does that make you feel?” here. We speak human, not bullshit. Masking is exhausting. Therapy is the last place that you want to hold it in. Your sessions are a mask-free zone. Autonomy + Accountability = Results Your autonomy is respected- meaning you choose the direction your mental health treatment takes. All people have the ability; sometimes you just need a nudge to get going. We get shit done. Healing takes work, and sometimes it’s tough. That’s why we’re on this journey with you. #cantstopwontstop #sorrynotsorry Book a free 20 minute consultation today: https://cc-betterworks.com
I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples. Compassion, warmth, and objectivity are just some of the values I offer to clients I serve. My clients are accepted for who they are while receiving encouragement to become self-aware, grow and thrive within their communities. My goal is to create a safe space for reviving the soul, mind, will, and emotions. I strive to assist clients in rebuilding weakened relationships while also assisting them in their own personal restoration. I also have a passion for working with clients who identify themselves as members of LGBTQ+. System Counseling, as well as Cognitive-Behavioral and Cognitive Restructuring approaches, are blended with Motivational Interviewing techniques to form the basic theoretical foundation of my work with clients. I offer Individual, Couples, and Marriage Counseling, Christian Counseling, Life and Executive Coaching, Consultation, and Clinical supervision. I believe in your ability to find the answers to your life’s dilemmas. I see myself as a facilitator within the therapeutic relationship, providing objective guidance and support, as well as, challenging unhealthy thought processes while creating a warm, accepting, and soothing environment in which to work. Let’s redesign the life you were created to live.
My clients often want a place where they don’t have to perform or explain everything perfectly. They’re dealing with stress, transitions, or relationship struggles and want support that feels real, supportive, and down to earth.
Finding the right therapist can be overwhelming and confusing. The relationship between therapist and client is of utmost importance to therapeutic growth. My work with young adults focuses on helping them learn effective skills to manage the challenges they face as they navigate this next phase of their life, emotionally, socially, academically, and professionally. I look forward to speaking with you to help determine if my experience and approach may be a good match for you.
Do you find yourself feeling anxious, sad, confused, angry lately? When people ask, “How are you doing right now?” can you really say you are doing “well”? We are living through an extremely difficult time, and nothing in our lives could have prepared us for 2020. And yet, we have all been asked to somehow adapt to this new normal and carry on. Deciding to start therapy is often hard to do, but I am here to help! My role is to provide support, understanding, encouragement, and empathy. Together, we will work to identify strengths needed to achieve your goals by developing coping skills and self-awareness. I specialize in treating children, adolescents, and adults struggling with issues related to past trauma, anxiety/stress, depression, family or peer relationships, low self-esteem, and life transitions. My therapeutic approach draws on several counseling theories and evidence-based treatments. My style is collaborative and compassionate, and I tailor my approach to meet the moment and place where you stand in the moment. It is my belief that the therapy session belongs to you, the client, and my job is to be there to help you in your journey of healing, self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-realized purpose in your life path.
Are you looking for change in yourself and your life? You may feel unhappy with where you are, or stuck in old patterns. I believe that every person has the strength and ability to transform their lives by learning new ways to cope with difficulties and heal from hardship. Whether you are struggling in a relationship, making a major life transition, or experiencing new or reoccurring mental health symptoms, I will work with you to create a unique plan that meets your needs and goals. I offer individual, partners/couples (including polyamorous partners), and family counseling, in addition to letter of support services for gender transition, for anyone age 13+. My primary focus areas are exploring & supporting identity development (racial identities, LGBTQ+ identities, etc), developing healthy relationships, improving communication, processing trauma, understanding family dynamics, & resolving conflicts. I am open to working with anyone who thinks they would be a good fit, but in general, I tend to be process-oriented, often focusing on how different dynamics impact clients’ experiences. I most value building trusting relationships with my clients and strive to offer a nonjudgemental listening space. I believe that clients have the right, and the ability, to make the best decisions for themselves.
I have been working with individuals in counseling for over 15 years, and began my career working with students in the University setting. I have specialized in working with eating disorders, but have experience supporting students with a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, life adjustments and changes, and general mental wellness. I partner with my clients to help them make the changes that THEY are looking for, and do so in a way that is both direct and compassionate.
Do you feel you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and worry about how to handle the responsibilities in your life? Have you been feeling blue or had thoughts you are not good enough? Do you want to feel understood? Are you having trouble communicating your point of view/handling conflict? Anything you are experiencing; you do not have to discover the solutions on your own. With a fresh perspective, you will find your inner power, gain self-confidence, and know you are somebody who is enough. I have a passion to help those who desire a different perspective or want to see their lives through a different set of lenses.
