I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and have worked in counseling focusing on grief for 14 years. In working with grief and loss I have found that this opening provides opportunities to recreate yourself because parts of your world have changed. This experience has helped me grow as a counselor over these years and to understand that we are all here to learn more about ourselves as challenges come into our lives. I have worked with clients with a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, physical and sexual trauma, job changes, and relationship issues. I have also worked with those who have other challenges such as High Functioning Autism and issues concerning the LGBTQIA community. My approach to counseling comes from Person Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques. I also have experience Heart Math for Stress and Anxiety where we use tools to regulate breath and heart rate. This skill can help one to be centered in the chaos and help to focus on your healing process. I also used techniques found in Mindfulness that helps to focus on the present moments versus worries about past or future. I believe in the ability within each individual to overcome the challenges that they face during the course of their lives. There should be a genuine relationship between the therapist and the client. This purpose is the creation of a safe place for the client to grow in their awareness of themselves and their environment. I believe in these theories because they center on the individual and their innate power to overcome their personal challenges. All of these theories and techniques give the client the confidence to realize that they do have the power to create their own reality and make positive choices. It is vital that the client feels a connection with their therapist to provide the trust involved in making the necessary changes in themselves.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Arizona, North Carolina, and South Carolina (LMFT 10386 Arizona, LMFT 20460 North Carolina, LMFT 8265 South Carolina, LMFT 155822 California). I specialize in working with individuals, young adults, and couples/families. My approach to therapy is collaborative and focused on helping all clients feel safe and comfortable in sessions so that change is more likely to occur. I am passionate about helping others heal so that they can feel fulfilled and aligned in life. I love helping clients feel unstuck and helping them get back in touch with their authentic selves so that they can know their worth. I believe that we are all capable of healing and that we have the ability to heal ourselves with the right resources and supports. I used intuitive approaches when working with clients and our work is tailored to fit your needs. I have advanced training in Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which allows me to understand how clients’ attachment histories have led to insecurities, feeling stuck, low self-esteem, trauma responses, interpersonal conflict, disconnection in relationships and negative narratives. This model allows individuals and families to heal past hurts and get unstuck from repetitive negative patterns. I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), which is an empirically validated model for trauma therapy, and Brainspotting (BSP) Therapy. These models focus on resolving ongoing trauma symptoms by helping the brain and body process information that is uncomfortable or disturbing so that the information is less painful.

Author Shannon Bream inspired the name through her book, The Women of the Bible Speak”, which entails the wisdom of 16 women in the bible and their lessons for today. The book provides a sense of hope and light to the reader. When women of God speak, you’re wise to listen, take notes, and learn. With that being said, it’s my obligation that when I speak, it’s full of wisdom, with expectation to provide hope and reassurance to individuals’ lives and circumstances. The mission of VicNikolSpeaks: Counseling and Wellness, PLLC is to inspire, motivate, uplift, encourage and support all individuals through life’s challenges and transitions. Many teens and adults struggle with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and compulsive behaviors that feel difficult to control. You may find yourself stuck in cycles of worry, overthinking, reassurance-seeking, or mental rituals, leaving you exhausted and frustrated. Anxiety or OCD may be interfering with your relationships, school, work, or ability to enjoy daily life. What you want is relief—not just from anxiety itself, but from the constant mental struggle it creates. You want to feel more confident in your ability to cope, less controlled by fear, and more present in your life. I specialize in treating anxiety and OCD using evidence-based approaches, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I work with teens and adults at their own pace, offering semi-structured, supportive therapy focused on facing anxiety, reducing compulsions, and building confidence in coping skills. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve been struggling for a long time. You are not broken or weak—anxiety and OCD are difficult, but highly treatable. Whether you’re new to therapy or returning, support is available when you’re ready to take the next step.

I specialize in working with men, women, teenagers, and boys (6+). If this is you, it is my goal to help you overcome the barriers and problems in your life that are keeping you from experiencing the freedom you are desiring. Often times, these problems are the result of trauma from childhood that is still unresolved. Difficulties that we experience early in life often stay with us into adulthood, creating a a myriad of problems including depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction (sexual, drug/alcohol, work), sexual abuse, lack of self confidence, relationship issues, negative coping habits, physical or auto-immune disorders, & more. In my practice, I utilize a number of trauma informed approaches such as Attachment Focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you resolve these early childhood traumas. I believe you can overcome these barriers to experience more peace, joy, and freedom in your life. You can heal. And it would be an honor for me to assist you on this journey. Send me a message for a free 20 minute consultation. (I am not working with insurance right now). See more at www.taylorhouchens.com
I work with individuals dealing with life transitions, medical related issues, mood and affective disorders, and marriage, parenting or family issues. I also have my Yoga Teacher Training Certification as well as completing my certifications in Maternal Mental Health and ADHD. My approach to counseling places an emphasis on the relationship between the client and counselor and the promotion of growth. When needed, I use a variety of structured and non-structured interventions to best meet the needs of the client. I utilize empirically supported techniques, including cognitive and behavioral interventions, that focus on the ways in which individuals think about and respond to events. These interventions allow clients to restructure their thinking, process events and modify behaviors in more adaptive ways. I use a narrative and solution focused approach to collaboratively work with clients to identify successful past solutions to problems and how these strengths can be implemented in future situations. Small changes in the way clients view themselves and their own abilities to solve problems will encourage solution-oriented patterns to reach future goals.
