I have many years experience helping people with their emotional problems. I work with individuals of all ages from adolescence to old age. My approach is listening-focused. No two persons who have come to see me have had the same issues and struggles to contend with. So what is needed is close, attentive listening so I can know how you can most benefit from my help. Many patients prefer to focus on the here and now problems they feel most immediately. But others want to explore their root causes in earlier relations and problems. I try to tailor my practice to work at either or both these levels of intensity.
I help people overcome their personal psychological barriers so they can live a more meaningful, authentic life. I provide compassionate, holistic care to all of my clients, supporting them through challenges in relationships, major life transitions, grief and loss, acculturation difficulties, and uncertainty about their path forward in life. I have particular expertise in helping young adults, including college students and those who recently graduated. I worked for several years in college counseling centers and have built on this specialization in private practice, developing a deep understanding of the challenges and uncertainties inherent in this phase of life and how to guide patients through them. I also have considerable experience with those struggling with traumatic or abusive relationships—whether during childhood or as an adult—as well as other forms of trauma. I’m also extremely effective with clients who—short of trauma per se— had or are currently experiencing difficult relationships with parents or other family members. In addition, I have substantial background in helping people who identify as LGBTQ+. That includes people who are just beginning to think about themselves outside of a hetero-normative framework as well as people who started that process earlier in life. Though I have specific expertise in these areas, I welcome all patients. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University, and have a breadth of experience in many settings ranging from college counseling centers to inpatient hospital units. This equips me to help patients from diverse backgrounds, life experiences and identities who may struggle with a wide range of emotional concerns. I currently work at The Flatiron Center for Psychotherapy, where I tailor my person-centered, humanistic, trauma-informed approach to craft the most effective treatment for each client.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, you're not alone. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I offer a safe and confidential space to explore these challenges and uncover the underlying patterns that may be impacting your well-being. Together, we can delve into your past experiences, understand your current emotional landscape, and build the resilience needed to thrive during this pivotal time in your life.
I specialize in helping people who have OCD, phobias and insomnia. It's very common for these problems to emerge in college, which can add immense pressure to an already intense time of life. Many people who struggle with these issues are very functional in other ways, and work hard to hide their pain. You may be used to solving problems on your own, and you might ask yourself "What's wrong with me? Why can't I fix this" when your usual strategies haven't helped. In our work together, I can help you understand why you keep getting stuck, and find a way to break free. My clients with OCD are smart, conscientious people who want to do the right thing. The things that they fear feel like very real possibilities to them, and they feel like it would be irresponsible to just ignore them. They want someone to tell them that everything is going to be okay, but when someone says that, they have a hard time believing it. They might go back and forth between feeling like other people are in denial about the terrible things that can happen in life, and feeling angry with themselves for not being able to stop spiraling. My treatment approach to OCD is very sensitive to these aspects of OCD. We don’t put energy into determining probabilities or disputing whether or not something is possible. Instead, we help you learn to trust in your own ability to distinguish between real world problems that deserve your time and attention, and OCD created problems that don’t need to be (and can’t be) solved because they are based on a believable, but false story. Once you feel confident that you can tell the difference between these two kinds of problems, you won’t feel the need to seek reassurance or do compulsions. People with specific phobias spend a lot of time and energy trying to avoid the thing that they fear. They are often very creative at finding work-arounds! At the same time, they might also feel limited by their phobias, and wish to seek help. Unfortunately, they might also have an impression that therapy will be like a sadistic game show, where they are forced to come into contact with something terribly frightening. This is not the case! Therapy for phobias is all about education and increasing your sense of self-efficacy and self-acceptance. We go at your pace, with the goal of helping you live your life freely. When you have insomnia, most advice about sleep is not helpful. You probably feel like you know more about sleep than anyone, and yet you still find yourself awake all night and exhausted all day. In therapy, I will listen to you and help you understand why you have been unable to sleep well. Then we will create a plan that actually helps you sleep!
Having moved countries multiple times, I deeply understand the stressors and challenges associated with settling into a new place, leaving behind friends, family, and pets. I can help you navigate these challenges and build meaningful connections and a fulfilling life. My primary focus is on adults who feel unfulfilled or trapped in a gilded cage and those who feel like they don't belong. When working with couples and individuals, my specialties include redistributing the mental load, fostering open communication, resolving conflicts, and reigniting intimacy. I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of my clients, always respecting their individuality and autonomy. I believe that even the most self-destructive behaviors originate from a place of protection. Let’s work together to reframe your relationships with yourself and others, transforming self-loathing and shame into understanding and kindness.
Do you struggle with building secure and respectful relationships, communicating confidently, or experiencing fulfilling intimacy? Is it challenging to identify, validate, or express your feelings and set boundaries to honor your needs? Maybe you feel burdened by anxiety or stuck in certain patterns that are not serving you in relationships or in working towards your goals. Together we’ll uncover insight on how your past experiences may be impacting your challenges in the present, reflect on your values and what gives you fulfillment, and use this knowledge to build new ways of moving forward and living your life how you want to. At the same time, we will explore different tools including ways of tuning into your body and developing emotional skills that you can use to manage stress, reduce anxiety, develop kinder self-talk, improve relationships and communication, and overall work towards creating a life full of meaning and enjoyment. I believe that each person is a mosaic of experiences, identities, and values and I will tailor our work to your unique needs and goals. My approach is engaged, collaborative, and not mysterious - I’ll share my observations with you, explain what I believe you may find helpful and why, and welcome your feedback on what is and is not working for you

Are you emotionally drained from holding everything together? You may struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down, or feeling like you're “too much.” I help young adults understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck and disconnected. Together, we’ll make sense of your inner life, relationships, and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself over time. My style, is compassionate, collaborative, and engaged. It's important to me that we create a relationship where all parts of you feel welcome and safe enough to make the changes you want. I’ve trained in relational psychodynamic therapy with children and adults, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. Based on my experience, the students I work most effectively with often face similar challenges, especially as they adapt to college life and cope with stress or feeling overwhelmed. These individuals tend to find value in receiving support and guidance while adjusting to the demands of their new academic and social surroundings. I've found that my approach works best for those who are looking for practical ways to manage stress, improve time management, and build resilience in both academic and personal aspects of their lives. Through establishing a supportive and understanding therapeutic connection as well as medication management, my goal is to empower students to tackle their college journey with confidence and strength.
I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, and young professionals through life transitions, relational challenges, and forging identity. Prior to going into private practice, I worked for New York University's Counseling and Wellness Services, seeing the university's dynamic undergraduate and graduate students. I often see those grappling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relational concerns, or sexual concerns. I have a specialty in working with eating and body image concerns/disorders from a Health At Every Size lens. I have niche expertise in concerns related to bariatric (weight loss) surgery and dramatic weight loss. I am LGBTQIA+ allied and often work with those exploring gender and sexuality. I work from a psychodynamic, attachment-based framework, and blend tangible skills to help alleviate your pain in the day-to-day and enhance your relationships. I am a person first, therapist second, and may utilize my own reactions and feelings to help us better understand your relationships in the world. From me, you can expect curiosity, warmth, and lots of questions about your experience to make sure I get it right. I try to leave you with interpretations of your challenges, new ways to think about your current circumstances, and things to try differently.
Imagine a world where you don’t lie in bed for hours replaying every situation in your head staying up way too late and ruining the next day. Instead, you fall asleep peacefully and can make major decisions without it fully consuming your night, sleep and over all day to day. Inside, there’s a voice that questions your worth, filling you with doubt—but you're ready to rise above it. You're tired of holding back, and deep down, you know you're meant for more—more confidence, more peace, and deeper, more fulfilling connections. I get it! I create a space in which you will feel relaxed while also allowing for you to feel understood. I will not just sit and nod, I will ask you questions, guide you and challenge you. I enjoy blending CBT and psychodynamic perspectives to ensure the most meaningful healing process. You deserve someone who is competent and caring. Let's connect!
