Is it just me, or do a lot of these "bios" start to sound the same after a while? Finding a therapist online is difficult, which I know from personal experience. I am here to provide connections, help facilitate joy and offer a space for you to learn to express your needs and be supported. Our practice together will value your lived experiences as the primary material and will be co-created through empathy and open communication. These systems of mental health are not ones that want us to "feel better", thanks to capitalism and systemic racism. I want to offer a space to fight against that. I have experience working with "high-risk" (read, traumatized and hurt) people living with mental illnesses and difficult experiences. I am comfortable working with what is often labeled as the more "severe" diagnoses and I focus of finding the health in every individual. I am a New York State licensed creative arts therapist and a board certified dance/movement therapist. This helps me in finding creative and expressive ways to connect in therapy spaces for all different types of people. I believe we can all benefit from some extra support lately! Contact me for a free consult to see if working together will be a good fit.

You might look like you have things together on the outside—but internally, you’re dealing with anxiety, overthinking, and feeling like everyone else has it figured out except you. Sound familiar? College can be a time of growth and excitement, but I know it can also feel overwhelming and isolating, too. I work with college students who are dealing with anxiety, stress, relationship drama, and that constant “what am I doing with my life?” feeling. I’m not a “sit in silence” therapist; I take an active and collaborative approach, which means I’ll ask questions, give feedback, and help you actually make sense of what’s going on (and what to do about it). I'll give you practical tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life, and together we’ll work on building confidence and setting boundaries so you can work towards feeling more like yourself and less "stuck" in patterns that aren't serving you. If you’re ready for therapy that feels real, supportive, and actually helpful, let’s connect.

Are you feeling anxious or stuck? Do you want to make changes but feel unmotivated or uncertain of how to make it happen? I am an LCSW working in direct practice for over 10 years throughout New York City, and I've had the opportunity to help people grappling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationships, sexuality, career changes, and many other major life issues. My client base includes people moving through major life transitions such as adjusting to college life, exploring a new identity, or recovering from the loss of a relationship.

Individuals who find Advika Anand, therapist and EMDR practitioner, are often feeling stuck—trapped in cycles of overthinking, stress, or sadness. Life may feel like sinking in quicksand, with thoughts and emotions pulling them deeper the more they struggle. Many notice recurring patterns—emotional, physical, or relational—that feel difficult to change, no matter how much effort they have made. Advika’s approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in both somatic and evidence-based practices. She works alongside clients to create a sense of safety, build self-awareness, and gently explore the root causes of distress at a pace that feels comfortable. Central to her process is recognizing the deep connection between mind and body. Drawing from EMDR therapy, relational psychotherapy, mindfulness, and DBT, Advika helps clients regulate emotions, heal from past experiences, and strengthen their relationships—with themselves and others. Her work often involves processing trauma, building emotional resilience, and developing practical skills for personal growth. Advika believes that healing is a two-step process: addressing sources of distress while also equipping clients with mental and emotional tools to thrive.

I believe therapy is a space to reconnect with yourself, with the parts that have been silenced, criticized, or forgotten. I see my role as someone who listens with deep care and genuine curiosity, while also supporting you as you explore how your experiences and emotions shape your journey through life. Together, we will create a space where all parts of you are welcome and where healing and meaningful change can begin to take root. I welcome all clients and especially value working with those from LGBTQ+, BIPOC, immigrant, and international student communities. My approach mainly draws from CBT and person-centered frameworks while always centering cultural humility and curiosity. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I will meet you where you are, and together we will find what works for you, whether that is building practical tools, unpacking old patterns, or simply having a space to be heard. Feel free to reach out any questions you might have!

Psychologist
New York, NY

Hi, I'm Stephanie. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist who provides trauma-informed care to a wide variety of patients. I strive to provide a warm and safe space where patients can feel comfortable sharing without fear of judgment. My goal is to help my patients reflect on their values so that they can work towards what it means to be their "best self." I will always focus on treating the symptoms and not the "disorder," in an effort to tailor my approach to the individual. I believe deeply in fighting stigma associated with mental illness and am involved in advocacy and research outside of treating patients.
