I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York with over 8 years of experience supporting teens, adults, and families through a wide range of life challenges. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I view therapy as a space to explore challenges from a holistic, eclectic, and ecological perspective. Together, we look not only at symptoms, but also at patterns, relationships, and life experiences that influence where you are now. I believe that the difficulties that arise in life can become opportunities for growth and expansion—when approached with curiosity, support, and willingness to explore. I currently offer telehealth services for clients across New York.

Hi! My name is Samantha Fontana, a licensed mental health counselor at Spotless Mind Mental Health Counseling. I collaboratively work with young adults and adults to improve their mental health by utilizing an integrated and evidence-based treatment approach. Psychodynamic talk therapy, CBT, DBT, ERP, and psychoeducation are just a few of the treatment approaches that I incorporate, as I believe therapy should be individualized for you. You may feel stuck sometimes, have trouble understanding your emotions, or need some help sorting out your thoughts, but the good news is you do not have to do it alone. Mental health affects every part of your life, and I am here to provide a safe, empathetic, and judgement-free space to explore and express what you are experiencing. It is important to talk about your feelings and experiences, and by examining them together, we can address any concerns regarding anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or negative thoughts, to name a few. We can then work on building coping skills to help you deal with life’s stressors. I look forward to helping guide you along your journey to a happier and healthier mental well-being.

College can be an exciting time, but it can also bring unexpected stress, uncertainty, and change. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, relationships, identity, grief, trauma, or simply feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what comes next, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I offer a warm, supportive space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and reconnect with yourself. Together, we’ll explore what may be keeping you feeling stuck and build tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected. I use approaches including EMDR, IFS, and ACT, tailoring therapy to your needs and where you are in your journey.

If you’re a woman or queer person who seems put-together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of who you’re becoming on the inside, you’re not alone. Many of my clients describe shutting down in social settings, feeling pressure to perform, comparing themselves constantly, or wondering why things that once felt easy now feel impossibly heavy. They’re exhausted from pretending they’re fine, disconnected from their own needs, and scared by how quickly their emotions or motivation can swing. I help clients make sense of these intense inner shifts through a somatic, trauma-informed, and spiritually grounded approach. Together, we slow down enough to track what your body and emotions are trying to say, stress patterns, numbness, overthinking, people-pleasing, or the impulse to disappear. Instead of forcing insight or navigating it alone, you get a space to explore identity, relationships, boundaries, burnout, and the pressure to figure everything out. This work helps soften shame, reduce spirals, and reconnect you to what’s real and steady within you. Clients often describe feeling calmer, clearer, and more able to show up for their lives with presence and self-trust. They communicate more honestly, rest without guilt, reconnect with people they care about, and feel less ruled by anxiety or self-attack. If you’re ready to understand what’s shifting inside you, and want support that meets you with depth, compassion, and grounded tools, I’d be honored to walk with you.

Are you looking for a supportive, safe space to process and share your concerns related to you or your child? Have you or your child tried to push through depression, codependency, low self-esteem, anxiety, or weak interpersonal relationships for a long time? Surrender your old story and prepare to embrace a new one. I know the feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, and being misunderstood and I know the value of having had a support system of those who believe in me when life gets hard. Fortunately, there is a way to change patterns by learning to think and feel differently. Through multiple techniques, I aspire to help change the way you may think and feel about yourself and the world, by identifying unhealthy thinking and helping you challenge them. Together we will work on shifting your mindset and making progress towards your personalized goals. MY BACKGROUND In addition to receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at CUNY Queens College and Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at LIU Post, I am a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I am fluent in Spanish and English. I am excited to use my knowledge and skills to help children, teens, and adults who might be more comfortable with therapy in Spanish, through individual/group settings. While earning my Master’s degree, my interest in mental health and the counseling field grew. I couldn’t wait till the day that I would finally be able to do what I’ve wanted to do since I was a child. Upon graduating, I was an intern for a pediatric clinical psychologist. Being able to see the work and gaining some hands-on experience opened new doors for me and showed me an additional side of helping people. From there, I moved on to a clinic that specializes in treating those who suffer from addiction/substance use disorder which gave me the opportunity to use my counseling skills differently. I was able to meet each person as soon as they began their recovery journey, as I conducted their initial assessments and guided them in their recovery journey by helping them meet their individualized goals through individual and group sessions. The experience of being in the counseling field has been one of a kind, especially as a health care worker through the COVID-19 pandemic. All things are possible due to my strong commitment and interest in helping the community. MY APPROACH My goal is to empower my clients, as I wholeheartedly believe in the ability to change while learning to be gentle with oneself. Please allow me the opportunity to join you and your family on this journey to overcome obstacles and embrace accomplishments. An inner sense of peace may feel far from reach for you or your child, but I promise it’s available to your family. Are you ready? You’ve made it this far, now just reach out! If you would like to contact me or make an appointment, please email me at stephanie@trianglecognitivetherapy.com or call me at 516-208-3792 ext 29.

Oh college, it's "supposed" to be the best days of your life...whoever came up with that needs a serious reality check. I've been through it and have also worked with enough college students, young adults, and adults of all ages to say that for many of us, that statement is completely false. So please know that if you find that these are not the best days (or even if you feel that these are the worst days), you are not alone. There is nothing "wrong" with you and I am here to help. I unfortunately don't have a magic wand to transform your college experience into something you see in the movies, but I provide a combination of medication management and brief supportive therapy (a fancy way of saying I include some therapy during our 30 minute medication follow up appointments) that can help address concerns like depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, and mood disorders. I’ll work with you to create a personalized plan that meets your unique needs and helps you achieve your mental health goals. Talking about medication can be daunting. When I prescribe it, my goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you rediscover what life can be like when your symptoms are managed. While medication won’t solve every issue, it can be a powerful tool alongside therapy and lifestyle changes, enabling you to reclaim your ability to thrive.
