Therapists for college students near 77005
I am a ‘Recovering Perfectionist’ that has struggled with anxiety for much of my life. I know how it feels to get stuck in my own head wondering what others think, trying to do everything ‘right’ (whatever that really means), and putting others before myself. I know what it feels like to want to give up and just avoid everything all together. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist, but also someone who truly understands what you are going through and what it means to find the right balance between challenging yourself and validating your progress to keep you going so you can reach your goals.

Under the supervision of Glenda Faulkner-Woodliff, M.A., LPC-S I have immediate availability with flexible appointment times, including evenings and weekends. I accept Aetna and Cigna insurance, multiple EAP (Employee Assistance Program) insurance companies, as well as self-pay. ____________ I’m here to support you as you tackle all the highs and lows that college life can bring. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, dealing with relationship stress, questioning your path, or just looking for a safe place to talk things out, my door is open. My work is all about creating a safe and trauma-informed space where you can feel supported. A little about me—I’m a Ukrainian-American adoptee, so I know how complex identity can be, especially when you're figuring out who you want to be. With experience in community mental health, substance use prevention, and working with people from all walks of life, I bring a compassionate and open-minded approach to therapy. My goal is to help you feel grounded, understood, and empowered to make choices that are right for you. Whatever’s on your mind, let’s face it together. Life can sometimes throw us into situations that seem impossible to handle. Whether it’s personal relationships, work, or financial issues, it can feel like everything is falling apart. You feel inadequate and powerless as a result, like you can't manage everything on your own. Additionally, you may feel isolated and misunderstood, experiencing shame and self-blame for circumstances beyond your control. It could be a past experience that troubles you, or a current situation that is overwhelming and unmanageable.

You're the one everyone counts on. You show up, you achieve, you hold it together — and somewhere underneath, you're exhausted and not sure why nothing feels like enough. Maybe you grew up translating for your parents, managing everyone's emotions, or learning early that needing things was inconvenient. Maybe you've never called any of that trauma, because it just felt like life. I work with high-achieving adults, adult children of immigrants, and couples who are tired of functioning well and feeling terrible. Together we get underneath the coping — the overworking, the people-pleasing, the hyper-independence — and into what your nervous system has been carrying all along. My approach is warm and direct. I'll reflect back what I notice, ask the harder question, and hold space for the parts of your story that don't have easy language yet. I use Brainspotting and EMDR alongside talk therapy, because some things live in the body and can't be reasoned through. I'm Surabhi Jagdish, LMFT-S, with over 12 years of experience. I see clients virtually across Minnesota, Texas, and Colorado.
To me, therapy is about meeting you where you are at. We can 'sit in the suck' and commiserate but from there we will build up! This is a collaborative relationship; we are colleagues working towards the same goal. I won’t try to impress you with fancy medical jargon or bore you with a lecture. I am a simple person with humble beginnings. I started my career in healthcare at 17 years old as a CNA (Certified nursing assistant) working nights at a tiny rural hospital. I moved into the Chicago suburbs to continue my education but maintained my CNA certificate by working afternoons and nights at a long-term care facility. I graduated with my Master’s in Social work in 2016 from Aurora University. During my initial years as a social worker I worked in mental health case management and hospice. Two years later I received my Licensed Clinical Social Work for the state of Illinois. Not even a month later in 2019 I moved to North Texas where it took me several more year of training before I received my clinical licensure for Texas. During that time I took several different positions to gain a better understanding of all the kinds of work a social worker is capable of. Those positions were intensive outpatient for mental health and addictions, intake, utilization review for a psychiatric hospital and home health. After gaining clinical licensure in Texas, I concentrated my focus to one on one telehealth with adults while they navigate difficult life changes. When I am not working I enjoy cooking, hiking, competing in dog sports, and tending to my plants and home with my spouse, 7 dogs, and one very old rabbit. I volunteer with the local animal shelter working with animals at risk of euthanasia due to behavior issues or medical concerns and in rescue rehabilitating struggling pets. As a clinician I use aspects of cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy and am considered person centered. I regularly provide handouts, suggest videos, or give homework to encourage therapeutic thought and action outside of our sessions. I look forward to meeting you and being part of the healing chapter of your story!

I work with adults of all ages adjusting to different life transitions from navigating mental health as a college student to improving executive functioning in school settings and daily life. I specialize in teaching clients coping skills from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I invite you to take the next step and give me a call. We can have a short, complimentary conversation about what you're looking for to help us determine if we may be a good fit to work together.

I’m an LPC with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and 2 years of clinical experience in both nonprofit and private practice settings. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change on their own, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward in relationships or in life. My approach is eclectic and personalized, drawing from CBT, DBT, humanistic, gestalt, existential, and narrative therapy. I believe in unconditional positive regard, autonomy, and transparency—clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to help guide and support meaningful, lasting change in a way that fits who they are. In our first session, we complete a biopsychosocial assessment, talk through your goals, and make space for any questions you have about therapy. From there, we collaborate on a plan that feels comfortable and supportive, gradually exploring your history and patterns while building toward practical, forward-focused growth.
