Finding Balance and Support in College College can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Between managing classes, relationships, future plans, and daily responsibilities, it’s easy to feel stressed, anxious, or emotionally drained. Maybe you’re struggling with focus, motivation, or perfectionism. Maybe you’re dealing with self-doubt, past experiences, or mental health challenges that make it hard to keep up. At Cura Meadows, I specialize in helping college students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next steps. Many of my clients are thoughtful, ambitious individuals who want to do well but feel weighed down by stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, or burnout. Some are navigating family expectations or healing from past trauma, while others just need support in managing the pressures of college life. I offer therapy and medication management in a space where you can process what you’re going through and find real solutions. Whether it’s learning new coping strategies, addressing underlying patterns, or exploring whether medication could help with focus, mood, or anxiety, our work is personalized to fit your needs. You don’t have to figure this all out on your own. If you’re looking for support that meets you where you are, I’d love to help.

Hello! My name is Renee and I have been a therapist for 17 years. I meet my clients with empathy, compassion, and the greatest respect for having the courage to look at oneself with honesty and embrace change. We all have the innate capacity to heal ourselves and the natural desire to grow and be the best version of ourselves. By creating a safe, non-judgmental space, I aim to help clients understand themselves better, uncover their own capacity to heal from pain, and ultimately find more meaning, authenticity, and joy in their life. I am experienced in helping adults and adolescents to recover from traumatic events and manage Anxiety. My approach emphasizes the mind body connection utilizing CBT, Mindfulness, and Somatic Awareness. I am certified in EMDR, a research based treatment for PTSD. I especially enjoy working with college students as they navigate the stresses of university life and transitioning to adulthood. As a first generation college student myself, I recall the self doubts, anxiety, and identity shifts that can accompany the college experience.

In a few weeks, you could be unstuck from what’s holding you back. Let’s get started. If you’ve never been in therapy, I’ll make this easy. If you're coming back, I’ll honor what you already know. We’ll get to know each other and understand what you'd like to change. During our sessions, you will always be the expert in how your life works, and I’ll share with you a research-based approach to creating mental health. We'll work toward goals as a team, in a process that fits your unique background (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation identity, religious affiliation); respecting your values is important to me. I use treatments that we know work. These therapies not only help you overcome problems you’re experiencing right now, but I’ll teach you skills to resolve future problem that might come your way, too. While handling emotions in a new way might feel strange, I’ll be there to walk you through the process. I completed a Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Utah, and fellowship in trauma psychology at the South Texas VA. I live in San Antonio, Texas, where I am a professor at the University of Texas School of Medicine. In my free time, I love fitness and exploring small Texas towns. It cannot be overstated what a big deal it is that you have begun to explore finding support for yourself. This first step is one of the hardest. I’d be honored to be a resource for you during this time, and accompany you as you grow and change. The majority of my clients are high achievers of all stripes, from Ivy League students to folks attending competitive conservatories and art schools. I was a performing artist (actor, singer, musician) for 12 years in New York City before changing careers, and I specialize in working with folks who have creative identities. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, and most also find themselves in overfunctioning/underfunctioning dynamics in their relationships. My main therapy modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as somatic mindfulness-based therapy (Hakomi), and experiential therapy (gestalt). Basically this means that, in therapy, I will support you in getting more familiar with your internal system by helping you track what’s happening in your mind, your body, and between you and I (the therapist and the client). I’ll also guide you towards deepening your relationship with the different “parts” of your system, learning their agendas and desires, which sometimes produce inner conflicts and create stuckness. It’s well-known that being mindful of your body and breath is a great way to reduce stress, and using this practice as real situations arise in therapy will give you a practical way to use it in your day-to-day. As you get to know your system better, you will build greater trust within yourself, allowing for stuck parts to shift and for real lasting change to occur. If you’ve been in therapy before and it just felt like venting, IFS will be different. Pro tip: the research suggests that the therapy modality you use is less important than a trusting relationship with your therapist as far as positive therapy outcomes (though I will happily talk IFS theory for days). Do your best to go with your gut feeling about who intuitively feels right when choosing a therapist, even if right now might be the hardest time to do so. If something about my practice resonates, please reach out and schedule a consultation! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi, I’m Dr. Beverly Benoit, and I’m dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and families navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and break cycles of generational trauma. With experience supporting individuals from age 4 through adulthood, I offer a trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive space where young clients can explore their emotions, strengthen their sense of self, and thrive. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the understanding that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and intergenerational trauma shape both the emotional and relational landscapes of our lives. Healing begins with attunement—whether that means helping a child make sense of big feelings, guiding a teen through identity and self-worth challenges, or supporting families in rebuilding trust and emotional safety. In addition to child and adolescent therapy, I offer family therapy and marriage counseling. I view the health of the family system as foundational to a child's well-being, and I help caregivers and couples improve communication, navigate transitions, and create secure attachments. As a clinician certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT), I tailor evidence-based interventions to each client’s developmental stage and emotional needs. I also incorporate insights from my doctoral research, including the development of Socio-Motivational Systems Theory, a framework designed to address the specific needs of children experiencing racialized trauma by integrating trauma-informed care with motivational and systemic strategies. At Kinder Mind, I strive to meet every client exactly where they are—with empathy, creativity, and cultural humility—empowering them to grow into confident, emotionally healthy individuals. Areas of Expertise: Child Therapy (Ages 4–18) Trauma and PTSD Family Therapy and Parenting Support Marriage Counseling Emotional Regulation, Anxiety, and Depression Grief, Bereavement, and Hospice Family Support Behavioral Issues in Children and Teens I’d be honored to support your family on its path toward healing and connection. We’ll build the skills and strategies needed for a healthier, more empowered future. Now accepting clients in Texas, Massachusetts, and Virginia.

College is exciting! It can also be terrifying, overwhelming, and lonely. Even if you have your educational and career path chosen and locked in. For most young adults, it's their first time living independently and truly stepping into this thing called adulthood. There is a new level of responsibility that can feel like it's too much. Do you find yourself feeling anxious before classes or social events that are supposed to be THE thing in college? Maybe you're finding it harder and harder to get out of bed, go to work, complete your assignments, or to even hang out with friends. You may find yourself questioning your choices about any and everything, including school. Finding who you are as a young adult, independent of your family can be daunting. On the other side of the college journey is preparing to graduate and step into the professional world. All of these experiences are likely to bring up stress and conflicting emotions within you. In our work together you will find a safe and affirming place to explore who you are, what you want and where you're going. You will learn ways to recognize, honor and manage your feelings in ways that are inline with your values. You will be able to talk about the hard stuff, while also finding moments of humor in this ride we call life. Are you ready to feel more in control of your feelings and more confident as you step into the next phase of life? Reach out to me and let's do this!

Hello! I’m a therapist in private practice, and I work best with students and young adults who feel like they’re carrying a lot on the inside while trying to keep up on the outside. Many of the clients who are a great fit for my practice are navigating anxiety, low mood, self-esteem struggles, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, the impact of past painful experiences, and major life transitions (starting college, changing majors, moving away from home, new relationships). If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like you “should be doing better” but can’t seem to turn it around, you’re not alone. Students often reach out when they’re: • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly “on edge.” • Stuck in overthinking, perfectionism, or procrastination • Feeling down, numb, unmotivated, or like it’s hard to care about things you used to enjoy • Burned out from juggling school, work, family, or big life changes • Struggling with confidence, self-worth, or a harsh inner critic • Having trouble with relationships, boundaries, or communication • Trying to heal after a painful experience, or coping with grief and loss In our sessions, we’ll slow things down and make sense of what you’re feeling, what’s been happening, and what you want to change. My approach is flexible based on your needs, but I often use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which helps you notice unhelpful thought patterns, understand how they affect your feelings and choices, and practice new ways of coping that fit your life. We’ll set clear goals, build practical skills you can use between sessions, and we’ll move at a pace that feels safe, especially if you’re working through trauma or loss. My style is warm, straightforward, and collaborative. You don’t need to know what to say or have a “perfect” reason to start therapy. If you’re looking for a space that feels supportive and real, where you can be honest, get tools that help, and feel more like yourself, I’d be glad to connect. We can start with what’s most urgent and go at a pace that feels manageable.

You may be navigating a major life transition, struggling with self-doubt or perfectionism, or feeling like you should have everything figured out by now. You don’t have to have a clear explanation for what you’re feeling to reach out. Together, we can make sense of what’s going on, build practical coping skills, and help you feel more confident and grounded.
