Hello my name is Billie. Like so many people I grew up in a conservative town that made it clear that they saw Queerness as "evil" and "destroying the family." I started Texas Queer Counseling to allow people the space to figure out who they are, away from the expectations society places on us. As a transwoman I know the state of Texas has is not a safe place to live. It is also important to find the joy of being Queer. Don't be as miserable as the people trying to criminalize our lives. I offer a complimentary 30 minute session.
At Mindful Living Therapy, I work with young adults who want to feel a little more like themselves again. Hi! My name is Mandy Schramm. I've been working in the mental health field since 2015, but practicing counseling since 2020. I'm currently an LPC at Soluna Mental Health in the Woodlands, TX. I have Master's degrees in both Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My background mainly has been working with adolescents in residential and inpatient settings struggling with mental health and behavioral issues. My work with adolescents in long term programs has afforded me the opportunity to see how different environments and family systems shape youth growth and needs. I also work with adults struggling with mental health, ineffective coping skills, poor social supports, and trauma. Most of my clients have struggled with unresolved trauma resulting in mental or behavioral issues. I aim to provide a safe space for those who are struggling to process the root of their issues so that they can adopt healthy coping skills to implement in their daily lives. Your past does not have to define you! Give yourself the opportunity you deserve to grow from your experiences and shape your future.
Everyone tells you that college is the best time in your life and to enjoy it because it flies by. But what people don’t tell you is all the challenges that it can bring. Maybe it’s the first time you are away from your family and friends from home. It can also bring many challenges with pressure to drink or use drugs, navigating friendships and dating in a more complicated way, and figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life. You might be in a position where in order to afford school you need to work on top of doing well in all your classes. I know personally how challenging, yet exciting, this time can be, and I am here to tell you that you don’t need to figure it all out on your own or even right now. Are you ready to enjoy your college experience, be fully present in the great moments without feeling stresses weighing you down everyday? It’s time to feel a sense of relief, confidence in who you are, and in your decisions. Together, we can make your life feel lighter and free up space for everything else you have going on! My Approach: I am a strong believer in the power of relationships. Having someone to talk to can increase our sense of happiness and positivity, and most importantly let us know that we are not alone. Life has many ups and downs, but it's what you do with them that matters. I am here to help you transform the tough moments into growth. Therapy with me looks like an open dialogue, where we both respect each other's point of view and collaborate to find solutions that help you overcome what’s been holding you back. We can talk about anything, no matter how hard it is to share. Whether it’s the good things or the bad, I am ready to hold space for even the strongest emotions that come up, because I know we can work through it together. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy that not only looks at your thoughts and feelings, but also how your environment, your cultural experiences, close relationships, and health, affect your mental wellbeing. We’ll use a variety of therapeutic techniques to best fit what you need, because therapy is not a one size fits all approach. We’ll make sure that those techniques are really working for you. It might be practicing mindfulness or trying out different coping skills to help things feel less overwhelming. Our approach will continue to grow as our therapeutic relationship develops. I know that therapy is not always easy, but I am here to support you each step of the way and I will always accept you for how you are in that moment, even the hard ones. A Little About Me: I went into undergrad undecided and had a hard time knowing what I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to do something to help people and I wanted a career that I would enjoy. I always felt behind in some way because I didn’t know what I wanted to do right away. I have learned that a lot of people have a unique path to get to where they are. I worked as a school social worker for 8 years before private practice and that is when I really knew I loved counseling and wanted to continue on this path. I have lived in the Chicago area for most of my life and love the city! You can find me by the lake or exploring all the city has to offer. My hobbies are all over the place and include a mixture of baking, triathlons, knitting, going on long walks and finding the best matcha. I also love traveling (but hate flying) and have an ever growing list of places I want to visit.
Personal Statement Hi! I’m Mary Margaret! I’m mental health therapist with a passion for supporting individuals, specifically older adolescents and young adults, through lifestyle transitions. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with people of all ages navigating school challenges, new medical diagnosis, and life transitions. My experience in diverse settings, including hospitals and schools, has shown me that no matter where you are in life, having compassion and support makes all the difference. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and work collaboratively with each client to tailor strategies that fit their unique needs and aspirations. I utilize a cognitive behavioral framework, integrating motivational interviewing, solution focused strategies, and a person-centered approach to support meaningful and lasting change. If you’re looking for a therapist who is empathetic, experienced, and dedicated to helping you navigate life's challenges, I'm here to help. Together, we can work towards finding confidence, balance, and growth.
Most of the clients I work best with have one thing in common: they feel overwhelmed by the pressure to “have it all together,” especially around food, body image, and big life transitions. Many of them are students who look fine on the outside but are quietly struggling with anxiety, burnout, or feeling disconnected from their bodies. I often work with people who: Feel guilty or stressed about eating and don’t know how to break the cycle Overthink food choices or feel “out of control” around food Are adjusting to a big life change (moving away from home, starting college, pregnancy/postpartum, major stress) Carry a lot of self-criticism and feel exhausted from trying to meet everyone’s expectations Want a space where they can be honest without feeling judged or misunderstood My clients tend to be caring, hard-working, sensitive, and often the “strong one” in their friend group. They’re usually trying to balance school, relationships, and their own mental health—often without giving themselves the same compassion they give others. If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. My goal is to make therapy feel like a safe, steady place where you can slow down, understand what’s going on underneath the stress, and feel more connected to yourself again.
Hello, My name is Heather Allen. The clients with whom I work best are those who are ready to begin working on themselves. Life is full of obstacles and challenges; sometimes, this can contribute to things feeling hopeless or out of control. Learning healthy tools to overcome and deal with these situations is an important part of mental health as well as physical health. I believe that all people have the potential to improve their situation; sometimes, they just need support to navigate those changes. I have been providing counseling services for 20+ years, and have spent many years working with adolescents and young adults dealing with trauma, domestic violence, and depression/anxiety concerns. Every client is different and unique. I strive to create a trusting and caring environment where you will feel heard and supported as I work to get to know your individual needs. I value questions and want to partner with you to help you achieve your goals. If you have been considering therapy or on the fence, I would encourage you to give it a try.
Life is filled with questions that don’t always have clear answers—therapy with me offers a space to examine these questions and make sense of them in a way that resonates with you. While I have a particular interest in supporting men, emerging adults, and second-generation individuals, I welcome the opportunity to work with anyone looking for support. I invite you to bring what you're experiencing so we can process it together. I view therapy as a collaborative conversation. I offer a warm, laid-back presence, facilitating space for you to be yourself. With an existential approach, we'll explore deeper questions along with day-to-day challenges. The relationship we build is central to the process and my goal is for you to feel supported and valued every step of the way.
