Therapists for college students near 80204
Hi there! My name is Alli. As the youngest of four girls, I feel like I was born listening and curious about people’s stories from as early as I can remember. After college, I taught kindergarten before starting a masters in counseling in Baltimore. My goal is to lessen the weight that you carry and create a space for safety, creativity, respect and self-growth. I believe in the power of change and use mindful practices to help foster self-awareness and bring lovingkindness to our deepest wounds as humans. I believe therapy is a challenging yet healing process.

Life is going okay, but you know it could be better. You want better relationships or you’re having trouble navigating boundaries with that one family member. You’re feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, and you’re self-aware, but you don’t know what to do about it. There is this nagging belief that something is wrong with you or that you should be doing more. Maybe you’re in transition and or you just really want to make sure you’re mentally well. Individual therapy is great for addressing all of these challenges and joys in life. Part of what works about individual therapy is a solid relationship with a therapist who really gets you, helps you see different perspectives, and helps you make sense of what is going on in your life. You’re the expert on you and as a therapist, I walk with you to help you heal and move forward.
Do you feel stuck in an endless cycle of perfectionism? Do you find you can’t get away from your own inner criticism, no matter what you do? Perhaps you’ve experienced anxiety from a young age and struggle to find relationships where you feel valued. When you’ve lived a certain way for so long, it can feel like change is impossible. But there’s a part of you that is a rebel, a cycle-breaker. It envisions a life filled with confidence, self-worth, and trusting healthy relationships. My goal is to help you bring this vision to life. I specialize in holistic treatment that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. I use my training in somatic Internal Family Systems and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing to address deeper patterns that leave you feeling stuck. I also use an attachment based approach to better understand your past and build a safe therapeutic relationship. As a survivor of complex trauma, I understand the daily heaviness that comes with holding so much. I I also know what its like to relieve myself of those burdens and a live an authentic and fulfilling life. I want to help you do the same.

In therapy, I offer a safe and confidential relationship, where you can hope to gain self-esteem, relevant skills, and personal strength, learning to more fully trust yourself and others. Hi! I’m Jeanette. I’m a licensed professional counselor in Colorado with over a decade of experience in the mental health field. Before starting my private practice in 2018 I worked in several different inpatient as well as outpatient settings including inpatient psychiatric units and emergency rooms. I have worked with all ages but I currently focus on working with teens, college students, and younger adults up to age 45 or so. I practice mainly from person-centered standpoints which emphasizes everyone’s innate ability to change and grow. I have worked extensively with survivors of trauma, and am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am very passionate about physical activity and the importance of integrating it into everyone’s daily routine. I also emphasize the role of nutrition for mental wellness and am currently receiving additional training in this area. Our brains are a part of our body and any mental health treatment should include significant time to ensure that you are also in good physical health. On the personal side, I am married and have three great kids ranging in age from preschool to high school. Whenever I get a chance, I’m out walking my dogs, Skips and Teegan. I’ve lived in Arvada for the past 15 years and, while I’m not a native, I definitely consider Colorado home.
What if getting better didn't mean spending years talking about everything that's ever gone wrong? I work with college and grad students to build real, lasting change by providing insight and skills that actually help. With over a decade of clinical work in the US and abroad, I've helped young adults manage anxiety, quiet the perfectionism and imposter syndrome that follow them into every exam and internship, while creating a healthy type of confidence that remains under pressure. My clients describe working with me as supportive, direct, collaborative, and nothing like what they expected therapy to be. We figure out what's driving the pattern. Then we work on changing it. I specialize in: anxiety, burnout and stress, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. My approach pulls from CBT, ACT, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness, grounded in a trauma-informed model. You don't have to have it figured out to start. Currently offering Online Therapy throughout Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Vermont, and Florida. Whether you are in Boston, NYC, or Denver, I am ready when you are.
My specialty is ‘extreme stuckness’. My approach is intense, caring, tough, and free-flowing rather than structured. My therapy groups are full of challenging, brilliant, courageous people who seek depth and growth. All the therapists in our group practice are trained in a meta-approach called "Feedback Informed Treatment" which means that we track how things are going session-by-session to see if anything needs to change about our work together to help you get where you want to go.
Do you feel stuck? Do you feel like you know all the rules and what you are “supposed to do” but somehow can’t get where you want to go? As your therapist, it is my goal to help you feel at home in your mind, body, and heart. I can help deconstruct and shift your “shoulds” into something that feels more authentic and meaningful to you. We also can dig into your past and explore how old coping mechanisms that may have helped at one time are now limiting. I am trained in a myriad of techniques—including mindfulness and EMDR—to gently guide your mind and body back to the present moment to a state of well-being and resiliency. I believe in your innate goodness and will always remind and point this out to you. I cannot tell you what is right/wrong or healthy/unhealthy and I resist being another voice telling you what you are “supposed to do”. My job is to provide a warm and accepting space to not just think and talk but to feel the big emotions. I will ask questions, reflect, and ponder alongside you as we rediscover your inherent wisdom and regain a sense of freedom. My clients tend to be intelligent humans who feel caught in their anxious minds, trauma, or simply desire support in living a more authentic and meaningful life. I work with people suffering from anxiety, perfectionism, life changes and transitions, grief, disordered eating, trauma, panic attacks, binge eating disorder, low self esteem, poor body image, and depression among many more. Let’s connect. I’d love to hear from you. Book a free 20 minute phone consult: https://electra-byers.clientsecure.me
