Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Hi, I’m Joanna Lester—founder of First Circle Therapy, a Colorado-based virtual practice. I specialize in working with college and grad students who are thoughtful, creative, and sensitive—but overwhelmed by the pressure to keep it all together. If you're juggling deadlines, relationships, family expectations, and big questions about who you're becoming, you might feel anxious, unmotivated, burned out, or just not yourself. You’re not alone—and therapy can be a space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what really matters to you. Our work can help you move through cycles of self-doubt, people-pleasing, or perfectionism and into a more grounded, self-led life. Whether you're processing trauma, navigating identity shifts, or learning to set healthier boundaries, I offer space to explore your inner world with clarity and care. In our sessions, we’ll use nervous system tools (to help your body shift out of fight-or-flight and feel more at ease) and parts work (to help the different sides of you—like the achiever, avoider, or inner critic—work together instead of against each other). You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. I offer free consultations to see if we’re a fit, and I accept several major insurance plans to make therapy more accessible. Feel free to reach out—no pressure.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
I am open to working with individuals of all ages, including children. I particularly enjoy helping young adults navigate life transitions, identity development, and relationships. Many of my clients are seeking clarity, stability, and a stronger sense of self as they move through uncertain or demanding periods of life. I specialize in athletes who often come seeking support with performance anxiety, confidence, motivation, or recovering from injury or burnout. Their goals typically go beyond just improving performance—they want to feel mentally strong, consistent, and aligned with their values both on and off the field/court/ice.
Welcome! I’m Lindsay Pierce. I’m passionate about creating a down-to-earth, genuinely welcoming space for college students. With over 10 years of experience supporting students across Colorado, I focus on making therapy approachable and helpful—no judgment, just real talk. Feeling stressed, stuck, burned out, or just a little off? Whether you're navigating a major transition, dealing with anxiety or depression, unpacking past trauma, or learning what it means to be neurodivergent, I’m here to walk alongside you. My goal is to offer a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. Located in the Denver metro area? Let’s take a walk—and talk. My Walk & Talk therapy option brings us outside, letting you move and breathe fresh air as part of the healing process—perfect for anyone who feels more at ease on the move.
My goal is to walk alongside my clients as they navigate the unique experience they're currently facing. I strive to create a safe place for individuals to come and share their experience with Grief, Loss, Caregiving, Anxiety, Depression and Life Transitions. I integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Person-Centered Therapy throughout the counseling process but may use various theories of therapy to best serve you and your situation. My experience includes working as a Grief Counselor and Support Group Coordinator at a hospice organization, where I was able to support many individuals coping with the significant journey of grief. I understand that grief can be life altering and believe no one should have to go through it alone. I prioritize honesty, compassion, non-judgement, and trust. I'm honored to walk alongside my clients through such significant moments in their lives.
Hello! I’m Hunter, and I'm a licensed psychologist. In our work together, I'm committed to the creation of a strong and authentic therapeutic relationship through which you can experience the warmth, trust, and support necessary to access your strengths and cultivate self-compassion. I integrate several evidence-based approaches to therapy in order to align with your individual needs, and I find it important to apply a strengths-based, multicultural lens to ensure that you’re understood accurately in the context of the life you’ve lived. I enjoy treating a very wide range of concerns, from the stress of life transitions to relationship challenges to chronic thoughts of suicide. I strive to treat you with warmth, dignity, and respect. I’m passionate about using therapy as a tool of liberation, as our mental health is deeply related to both the quality of our relationships and the challenging circumstances of our daily lives. My hope is that our time together can empower you to meet your personal goals and to navigate life’s adversities with meaning and satisfaction. By working together to foster self-trust, agency, and empowerment in the face of adversity and complex societal systems, I believe our work together can be an important step towards dismantling widespread systems of oppression. I know from experience that finding a therapist who feels like a great fit can be an overwhelming and exhausting process. Please feel free to explore my website (found at the bottom of this page) and to contact me by phone or email at any time. From my website, you can schedule a free consultation call that will allow us to connect more, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have. (And a consultation call can also allow you to get a better sense of my presence than I’m able to convey in written form!) I’m currently able to accept clients who are insured in Colorado with Aetna, Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Kaiser, Optum, Oscar, Oxford, and United Healthcare insurances, as well as Rocky Mountain Health Plans (the western coverage region of Colorado Medicaid), and I strive to update my in-network coverage here so it remains current.
I specialize in supporting teens, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating depression, anxiety, identity exploration, and trauma. In our first few sessions we will explore how you move through the world and establish goals for therapy together based on your unique experiences and strengths. I offer both online and in-person sessions at West Wind Counseling. I am trained in evidence based counseling practices, trauma-informed mindfulness, DBT, traumatology, and am working toward EMDR certification. I also use somatic based interventions and parts work in sessions. Ask me about climbing therapy, which offers a unique way to explore how we navigate challenges, build resilience, and practice mindfulness!

Spring EOP is here for any step of recovery, whether or not you have been to treatment. We aim to bridge the gap between leaving treatment and the transition back to life. For individuals who need to work, attend school, and have ongoing family obligations, the limited time outpatient therapy provides may not be enough to sufficiently support the investment that’s been made in residential treatment with the continued journey of sobriety. Many clients who have experienced residential treatment find that there is a greater need for clinical support beyond one session weekly; at Spring EOP we are here to support this transition with continued, consistent care. Additionally, we understand not everyone is ready for treatment, a client does not have to be transitioning out of a higher level of care to be an ideal client for us. We are there for every step of the recovery. We offer support to loved ones through CRAFT group as well as therapy for couples, family, and loved ones. We accept ages 15 and up.
When you’re in need of compassionate mental health care, you deserve genuine openness from a therapist who strives to be your advocate at all times. I look forward to being that advocate for you, learning more about who you are as an individual while exploring the ways we can achieve your collaborative goals together. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience, I help adults navigate challenges posed by depressive and anxiety disorders as well as assist with processing and treating trauma and grief that individuals have experienced throughout their lives. My goal is to make in-depth inquiries and connections that get to the root of your struggles and build the skills needed to overcome any obstacle. I'm passionate about helping redefine the past and instilling hope for greater mental wellness. That’s why my method is centered around openness and grounded in the idea that you are not broken and needing to be "fixed." Instead, we use your life experiences to heal and explore the person you would like to be. In our time together, you can expect a kind, casual, and inquisitive environment when exploring your symptoms and history. I operate with a person-centered, Rogerian approach, using the concept of "unconditional positive regard" and a conversational style, so you feel understood in a non-judgmental way and at ease when discussing difficult history. I have served the Denver community as a psychiatric nurse practitioner based in mental health for the majority of my career. During this time, I had the honor of treating a wide number of diagnoses and severities of symptoms across ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic hardships. These experiences taught me just how nuanced mental health care truly is, allowing me to see a person not as "one diagnosis," but to take into account their entire history, relationship dynamics, and values to best tailor treatment, leading to greater well-being. When I’m not in my therapist role, I am a hobbyist woodworker and woodturner. I enjoy building and tinkering with models, as well as other creative outlets like cooking and baking sourdough bread.
Welcome to Greever Counseling! It has always been a deep conviction of ours that each and every person has immense value, meaning, and potential. Sometimes, life has a way of beating us down, until we no longer can see this within ourselves. Sometimes, we have been so hurt that we hide, avoid, lose hope, or give up…Sometimes, we run to coping patterns that ultimately leave us even more disconnected and isolated from ourselves and others. It is within this space where we want to welcome you. You don’t have to be perfect here. Often, it is within the context of brokenness where beauty and growth can occur. We take this work as a sacred opportunity to meet you, exactly as you are, and to help you find your path towards freedom and healing. It’s not an easy journey, but it is so worth it. Greever Counseling specializes in PTSD (trauma), Anxiety, Sex or Porn Addiction, Intimacy Issues, Couples Work, and Men’s Issues. If you are a psychological theory nerd (as we are), we operate from an integrative viewpoint which includes Relational Psychodynamic and Interpersonal Neurobiology, as well as processing tools within Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Mindfulness. Ultimately, we believe that the starting point for healing is found within the context of a deeply authentic and relational encounter with another.
You feel alone, no one understands the pain that you are experiencing. You long for your life to be different, to feel happy again. Wishing that your past didn't define you and your value. You desire to take back the power that your past stole from you. To determine what your future will look like. Wishing you could look in the mirror and recognize and feel connected to the person that you see looking back at you. You desire to have meaningful relationships again, ones that you can trust and not have to fear being hurt. Relationships are a struggle. There is a constant question of safety and trust. Trust used to come so easy and it is now such a foreign concept. Safety? What does that even mean? You struggle to know whether the people around you even care about you, or if they have an ulterior motive. It is hard to feel peaceful and calm when you constantly feel jumpy and on edge. Always aware of your surroundings, you are unable to relax and just enjoy yourself. Being present in the moment feels impossible and you find yourself zoning off, unaware of where you venture to.

Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, feeling stressed and unbalanced or the loss of a loved one or relationship, I can help you work through challenges and develop goals to become grounded again. The path to becoming whole again can often take someone walking beside you and encouraging you, while facilitating the exploration of your own solutions. Are you having trouble with falling and staying asleep? Are you feeling anxious and overwhelmed? I specialize in working with people who are having trouble sleeping, who are experiencing anxiety, and who are going through reproductive transitions or who are experiencing distress related to their reproductive health (e.g., PMDD, pregnancy, postpartum, infertility). In my work, I aim to cultivate a safe space to hold and honor your emotions, while also providing you with new coping tools to help you process your emotions, get some distance from your thoughts, and help you engage with your life. To do this, I use a blend of evidence-based psychotherapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
I believe that with the right support we can make small intentional changes to create a satisfying life. I am committed to helping clients feel understood and respected. I help clients identify strategies to alleviate symptoms, modify problematic patterns, and develop effective coping skills. I provide compassionate care and tailor empirically supported treatments. I primarily utilize mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapies and strategies informed by dialectical behavior therapy. These therapies provide symptom alleviation, are well established treatments, and have long term benefits. I have experience and success treating anxiety disorders, unipolar and bipolar depression, self-harm behaviors, low self-esteem, emotion dysregulation, grief, and difficulties associated with navigating transitions. Lastly, I conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for specific learning disabilities, ADHD, and complex mental health disorders.
