Therapists for college students near Boston College
I'm Erica, an experienced psychologist specializing in college-age mental health and sport psychology. I know college is A LOT and I have the utmost admiration for students. You're balancing what feels like a hundred different priorities and sometimes it can feel like it's all just way too much. I am passionate about providing empathic support and tangible tools to help students work through the challenging times that often come with the pressure-filled environment of college. I worked in multiple college counseling centers and athletic departments around the country prior to heading into private practice. I am licensed in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire and offer telehealth appointments so clients can be located anywhere in those two states. I applaud you for taking this step to get support for whatever you are going through and I look forward to connecting with you!
Hello, and welcome! I’m Kimberly Masterson, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) dedicated to supporting college students through life’s challenges. College can be an exciting yet stressful time, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by the demands of school, social life, and future plans. If you’ve been struggling with anxiety, depression, past trauma, or ADHD, you’re not alone, and it’s okay to seek help. In our work together, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind. Whether you're feeling anxious about exams, coping with the weight of past experiences, or managing difficulties with focus and organization, I’ll help you develop practical tools to feel more in control and connected to your goals. You don’t have to face these challenges by yourself. My approach is understanding and tailored to meet you where you are, so we can work at your pace to help you feel better and move forward in your life. If you’re ready to take the next step toward feeling like yourself again, I’d be honored to support you in your journey.

I enjoy providing a compassionate, emotionally-attuned space for you to understand how earlier life experiences have influenced your thoughts, feelings and behaviors- whether you are embarking on your own self-discovery journey, navigating a difficult life transition, processing a painful past experience, or managing persistent thoughts and feelings that you are unsure how to change. Drawing from my own experience as a first-generation queer Latinx, I strive to create an accessible, inclusive and validating space in which you can explore your own authenticity and cultivate your own empowerment. Do you worry about the future? Would you describe yourself as having difficulty with perfectionism, relationships with family & friends, social anxiety or identity? We are a small practice with two therapists--Spencer & Carlie who love providing therapy to young adults as they navigate this exciting and nerve wracking time moving from childhood and dependence to adulthood and independence. We often work with young adults who may have had therapy in high school but did not previously find therapy helpful (often due to a lack of agency in picking their therapist, misunderstanding or invalidation of their experiences, disruptions in confidentiality or lack of concrete coping skills/goals worked on). We provide a reparative experience where clients feel genuinely supported and able to advocate and ask for what they need. We use a variety of different therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal-Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Based Therapy, EMDR, Goal-oriented Therapy and Mindfulness. Our clients often move towards a feeling of confidence, improved relationships and belief in their abilities to handle any challenges that may come their way.
I am a New York State licensed Psychotherapist experienced in working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, family and relationship struggles, identity, complex life transitions, and trauma ranging from the personal to systemic. I am a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed training in working with Couples and Families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family and advanced post graduate training in Relational Therapy at the Stephen A. Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. I bring warmth, deep listening, honesty, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a spirit of collaboration, authenticity, and humor to my therapeutic work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with adolescents and emergent adults and understand that these junctures typically involve a great deal of growth and change. This can in turn be exciting and wonderful, and also sometimes disorienting and overwhelming. I approach therapy as a collaborative exploration of an individual's lived experiences, the meanings they make out of these experiences, and the relationships they cultivate with self and others in the context of these experiences and meaning-making. In therapy together we slow these conscious and lesser conscious processes down to better understand what might be happening, where people may be stuck in self-limiting narratives or patterns, where resilience, joy, and strength can be recognized, and where growth and change are possible.
I have over 10 years of experience partnering with clients across the lifespan around issues such as grief & loss, addiction, LGBTQIA+ issues, anxiety,, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. I seek to create a partnership with all of my clients so that our treatment is directed in accordance with your values and what is important to you. At the very least I want each and every client to walk away from one of my sessions feeling respected and heard.

My experience on the other side of the 'couch' has shown me that real change is possible when you make your mental health a priority. It takes courage to ask for support, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space for you to share and process what you’ve been carrying. In our sessions, I’ll use strengths-based approaches, insight-building techniques, and various therapeutic modalities to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and achieve your personal goals. My approach to therapy is both conversational and practical (somewhere in the middle of talking to a friend while also getting concrete techniques and insights). I strive to create a safe environment where your story is valued, and you are treated as the expert of your own lived experiences.
