I am a mature, older woman with a great deal of professional and life experience that I apply in my practice. I am an empathic, respectful, and careful listener. I work with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, life transitions, attachment, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, women’s issues, LGBTQ+ challenges, and relationships. I also have a special interest in neurodivergence, including both high achievers and individuals with ADHD. Because of my proximity to MSU, I have the pleasure of working with many college students, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I work eclectically, carefully tailoring my practice to each of my clients, utilizing approaches to therapy that are trauma-informed, integrative, and experiential. I am trained in many different modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I would be honored to accompany you on your journey to wellness, working together to resolve the issues that bring you to therapy.

I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced loss in their life. I have worked many years in the hospice setting and it would be my honor to help you find hope and meaning. I enjoy working with adults struggling through a life transition, college stress, medical issue, professional burnout, caregiver burnout, trauma, anxiety/perinatal anxiety, or grief. My clients desire to connect to an internal sense of sturdiness that allows them to live more empowered, hopeful and meaningful lives. I have a clinical specialty working with people who are struggling to find connection in their relationships and are at a crossroad in their life (divorce, grief & loss, new parents, affair recovery, professional burnout). I would be honored to help you make sense of your life and rebuild again. I strive to provide a compassionate, gentle, safe, and trustworthy environment that fosters a strong, therapeutic relationship. I operate from a holistic therapy approach that is person-centered and draws on the strengths of my clients. My approach integrates a variety of theories to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves and their emotions. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental and empathic space where my clients feel seen and heard. I value and honor the unique story of each client, as well as the vulnerability it takes to reach out for support. Together, we will hold curiosity about your struggles and begin a journey of growth and healing.

I offer virtual (online) sessions only at this time. Some sessions can be made by appointment if openings are not noted on my calendar - just ask! Sometimes the anxiety and depression that come with life changes, trauma, relationship issues or job stress can be distracting and affect our ability to thrive. When people work through their thoughts and feelings, they often report feeling more clarity and a deeper sense of vitality and purpose. You can expect to be gently challenged to explore your experiences in a safe, kind and private space when you work with me. I've helped people find more confident self expression in decision-making and relationships. I've also had people report performing better in sports, school or the arts. Many people find themselves making better, more positive behavioral changes as they feel better emotionally. I use an eclectic mix of theories, often including psychodynamic work, in therapy to include the entire person: mind, body and soul. I try to educate and empower people to use practical tools they learn in therapy in realistic, lifelong ways. It takes courage to be vulnerable and acknowledge you'd like some help along this journey. I know because I've been there myself. Take the first step and I'll meet you there.

A former supervisor of mine used to say, “nothing changes until it changes.” I’m here to help you take that first step. As a therapist, I know that few things are as important to the process of therapy as the working relationship between the client and their therapist. This is why I approach every session and every client with empathy, warmth, and unconditional positive regard. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is safe and non-judgmental – where you are the expert of your own experience, where you feel validated at the intersection of your various identities, and where you feel understood as a whole person. I always maintain a client-centered and strengths-based approach to help you become the ideal version of yourself. I want to build your trust in me so that I can support you through difficult and painful times. In a world that stigmatizes mental health challenges, I seek to normalize, validate, and educate. I graduated with my MSW from the University of Michigan in 2022, where I worked as a therapist at the University’s counseling center, providing therapy to students. Prior to that, I gained case management experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I have experience working with individuals of various nationalities; cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds; religious groups; gender identities; sexual orientations; and more! I also have worked with clients experiencing a range of mental health challenges and diagnoses, including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, ADHD, adjustment challenges, sexuality and gender identity concerns, identity development, and substance use.

We aim to make these services accessible and effective for any community member from any background. Diversity Statement: Our mission is to be a place where anyone is welcomed and supported on their journey towards hope, healing, and wholeness. We know our commitment to diversity and inclusion is central to being able to achieve this vision of welcoming everyone. We work hard to foster a culture where love and care for others is authentic and automatic. We understand that unique perspectives generate better ideas and improve our ability to help the people we serve. We realize that welcoming everyone is a lofty goal because of the polarizing differences in our culture, but this is part of what makes it a goal worth striving for. We believe in creating a safe space for all communities and people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, disability, or socioeconomic status.

I believe in equity, equality, and justice for all humans. You well be welcomed here and safe to be yourself regardless of gender, sexuality, race, size, and relationship structure. I am an unwavering ally for the LGBTQ+ community. I approach life, and therapy, from a trauma-informed, social justice, and anti-racist lens. I believe all humans are experiencing some degree of grief and trauma, whether from the ongoing stress of the pandemic/politics, and/or from personal life stressors. Many people have been expending all of their emotional (and physical) energy on just "keeping it together" and surviving. My goal is to offer a safe space for you to slow down, breathe, and be heard. As a therapist, I have the privilege of witnessing the resiliency of the human spirit and the power of the human brain. I will walk alongside you through this journey. I will listen. I will also encourage growth, healing, and emotional development, at your pace. Many of my clients are working towards improvement in the areas of anxiety, grief, trauma, family issues, life transitions or changes, physical symptoms (often caused by emotional stress), and relationship struggles. I often work with people who describe themselves as highly sensitive, perfectionistic, people pleasers, or high achievers. I view counseling as a holistic process and take an integrative approach to working with clients.

Hi, my name is Dan. I use he/him pronouns. I am a licensed psychologist in general practice at Sojourn Psychotherapeutics, LLC in the East End of Pittsburgh. I work with individuals, couples, and families. In addition to general practice, I specialize in LGBTQIA+ mental health, neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, OCD), and climate-aware psychotherapy. Here are some examples of therapeutic goals my clients commonly bring to therapy: identifying and managing mental health symptoms, finding greater motivation and focus in daily life, building and managing relationships, identity exploration, deprogramming internalized stigma, and healing from trauma. I draw on a range of approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, and psychodynamic and attachment-based methods, but I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is what does most of the work. I love my job and consider it a privilege to serve my community. If you feel like any part of this page speaks to you, I welcome you to get in touch and request a free consultation. Once I have received a message, I typically respond within 2 business days. Warmly, Dan
