Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
People often struggle with feelings of sadness, anxiety, and emotional responses they do not understand. Counseling can be very helpful in identifying the source of these symptoms and undoing negative effects of previous life events. . I find great fulfillment in helping individuals to gain a better understanding of who they are at their core as well as how past events and circumstances have affected them in order to move towards genuine healing. One of the most important aspects of therapy that I am committed to is creating a safe space for all individuals. Therefore, I operate from a very open-minded standpoint and I am accustomed to addressing issues relevant among diverse populations. I have had the privilege of working with individuals of various ethnic backgrounds, faiths and spiritual orientations, gender identities, and sexual orientations. All are appreciated for their unique backgrounds and personal qualities and all are welcome!

My journey has been a ride so far. I have experienced life's awe inspiring highs, and life's darkest of lows. It is through it all, through the elations of life and through its sorrow, I have learned so much. I have learned that matters of the heart can be so hard, so hurtful, and at times make life seem unfair. However I have also learned that no matter our standing in life, there is something that is universal to the human experience, and that is we are hard wired for connection. At our core we long for connection, we want to be heard, validated, and loved. My journey thus far has made me a better person, a better husband, a better father, and a better therapist. I love woodworking, I also love BBQ'ing or smoking meat in a real old school smoker, using real wood! I also love learning, love reading, and I love to write. I have been married to my best friend for going on 26 years! We have two daughters, 18 and 24. I love the University of Michigan, The Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Redwings!
Warm Welcome! I have nearly two decades of dedicated experience in providing therapy, and over 40 years of life experience, with the highs and lows of being human. Having been a high-achieving student of many years and often critical of myself, I am particularly attuned to the specific needs of students. I have also had my own journey with neurodiversity and ADD. My primary goal is to create a compassionate space for you to move forward in a journey of health, stability, and independence. I believe in a collaborative approach celebrating the strengths you already have and discovering the ones you have lost. I primarily utilize a psychodynamic structure, leaning heavily on CBT-based skills and self-reflection. I am particularly effective working with those that identify as female of all ages, in addressing stages of life transitions and self-esteem, as I have faced difficulties in those areas myself. I want to see you thrive, and I would be honored to work with you.

Hey there, I'm really glad you're here. Let me tell you a bit about why therapy is so meaningful to me. One of my passions about my role as a therapist is to normalize therapy, why else would I do this! I think that this is something that my clients can bring away from their sessions. (Que cliche sunshine and rainbows that can be very real when you choose therapy, a very big and hard step). Everyone needs a little support every now and then, but sometimes, events happen that make you feel like you need a little more support, or college feels a little more overwhelming that you expected. I get it, because I've been there. Trauma and negative thinking patterns are treatable and can be managed and I often find that with the use of EMDR and other techniques that I engage in, my clients often feel much better. I work with individuals to manage significant life stressors or traumatic events or histories that continue to impact or trigger you and decide to pop up and cause trouble in unexpected moments. I also work with pregnancy and postpartum concerns!
We help anxious teens and adults find peace by healing and accepting themselves. We provide a non-judgmental space for people to reach their goals.
