Therapists for college students near 15213
Are you struggling to adjust to college life? Are you having difficulty making new friends? Are you overwhelmed by this stage of your life? I'm here to help. I have over 25 years of experience as a psychologist working with people experiencing challenging life events and transitions. Working together, we can get you back on track.
I have expertise in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, untangling impacts of trauma, and neurodivergent young adults, though many clients of diverse backgrounds and experiences tend to respond well to my authenticity and warmth. Clients seeking my support might be struggling with perfectionism, anxiety, burn out, boundary-setting, self-doubt, and identity. Common goals might include reducing anxiety, applying their awareness of self to healing, and approaching life and relationships with wellness and empowerment. My goal is to act as a partner in navigating the waves of life. I'm super excited to learn more about you! Building on sensory awareness, mindfulness, trauma work, and creativity, we'll dig for the root of your distress. Tools such as thought challenging, processing trauma, reducing nervous system burnout, and empowerment to lean into your long-term goals may be cornerstones of our work together. I cultivate an environment of authenticity, warmth, and creativity. Working with pre-teens to adults, I recognize that we have all experienced adversity to some degree in our lives and each degree is equally valid. While growth is often a layered and open-ended journey, your counseling relationship and an understanding of relational dynamics will be cornerstones for your adventure. Give us a call to discuss how we can help!

Many of the students I work with are kind, hardworking, and thoughtful—but they’re also exhausted. They often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or like they’re constantly falling behind no matter how hard they try. Some struggle with focus, motivation, or staying organized—especially those dealing with ADHD symptoms like mental fog, procrastination, or racing thoughts that make it hard to relax or keep up with school. Others are managing perfectionism, body image concerns, trauma, or health issues that are hard to talk about with friends or family. If you’re feeling burned out, stuck, or like your emotions are too much to handle on your own, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I offer a supportive space where we can sort through what’s going on and help you feel more grounded, confident, and capable. Sessions are fully virtual for Pennsylvania residents, and I offer flexible scheduling, accept several insurance plans, and provide sliding scale options to keep therapy accessible.
Put your mental health first. Many times in the past, I have got so caught up with multiple responsibilities, that I stopped caring well for myself, which hindered my ability to meet my responsibilities. I have found it necessary, at those times, to cut back and turn my attention to self-care. Whatever difficulty you may be facing, academic, relationships, or emotional, I encourage you to get help. The sooner you address it, the easier it is to correct. The treatment approach will depend upon your needs. If you have an addiction, or similar behavioral problem, Motivational Interviewing is the best evidence-based approach. If it is PTSD, EMDR. I am eclectic, using the SAMHSA.gov best practice recommendations for the treatment of trauma, addictions, anxieties, and mood disorders. See my website for more information.
Through my experiences as a therapist, I have seen how life stressors, past experiences, and genetics can all play a role in the difficulties of our lives. My hope is that we can create a safe environment to enable you to grow and adapt to what life has to offer and start to explore the things that may be holding us back. I have worked with individuals and couples struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, ADD, ADHD, Marital Conflict, issues surrounding substance abuse, and issues surrounding gender and identity. I specialize in working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+. I offer a free phone consultation to help you determine if my services are a good fit for you or your family! Sliding scale rates are available upon consultation.

I help individuals struggling to have power over themselves and their decisions. I also help couples and families who are struggling to maintain trust and connection in their relationships. Sometimes we feel stuck in a vicious cycle or pattern of behaviors that we need extra help interrupting. I help empower clients to help themselves, break the cycle and create a new pattern on their own terms.
Holiday Blues? Struggles with navigating challenges like depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral concerns, stress, and self-esteem? I offer a supportive space where you can explore what’s weighing on you and begin to move toward healing and balance. My approach is person-centered and tailored to your needs. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help. I draw from a range of therapeutic methods including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, strengths-based strategies, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and EMDR. In our first few sessions, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy—your story. I focus on building trust and rapport from the start because I know opening up can feel intimidating. We’ll work at your pace, and you’ll never be pushed to go faster than you’re ready for. Mental health symptoms like depression, anxiety, anger, stress, etc., are just that- symptoms! These symptoms come from somewhere in your life, it is your bodies way of telling you "something's not right" or "there needs to be a change here." It is my passion to help one figure out what these symptoms are trying to tell them. After we understand the message we will work to build knowledge, mindsets, skills, and other insights to continue growth and prevent those symptoms from returning or reduce the impact they have on ones life.
