Therapists for college students near 80204
My name is Sarah Lucas, and I'm a licensed professional counselor in Denver, Colorado. I was born in North Carolina and have Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Studio Art from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, transitions, pre- and post-partum difficulties, and relationship struggles. I utilize multiple therapies including CBT, DBT, and ACT to create a treatment plan that suits each client's unique needs. I'm a practical therapist, so I want to give you strategies to use outside of the therapy session in your daily life- as well as offering a listening and understanding ear. I hope you leave every session with me feeling empowered, supported, and more compassionate towards yourself. I want to help you navigate transitions and design your life with courage and confidence. We'll open up, talk goals, make plans, and work together to help you feel good. Along the way, I'll be here beside you to remind you that you are wonderful, just as you are.
I am a therapist specializing in a wide range of concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, identity issues, LGBTQIA+ identity and relationships, life transitions, men's health, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual health, stress management, and student mental health — working with patients of all ages. With more than eight years of experience in direct care mental health settings and a background as a former educator, I bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic relationship. I believe that healing is a collaborative process and am committed to working alongside people from all walks of life to help you navigate your challenges and discover solutions that are right for you. My practice is founded on evidence-based and integrative modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), humanistic, and collaborative approaches. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, I tailor therapy to meet you where you are. My goal is to create a space where processing your experiences, build new understanding, and work toward meaningful goals all come together, so that every session moves you forward in a way that feels both grounded and purposeful. My path to becoming a therapist grew naturally out of my work as an educator. Many of my former students sought me out specifically, recognizing that they needed someone to direct and honest with them about their patterns and behaviors. Being surrounded by therapists throughout that time, I found myself continually inspired by the depth and impact of their work. That inspiration led me here. Today, I bring that same directness into the therapy room, helping you explore how your feelings and emotions connect to your history and how patterns, often without our awareness. By shining a light on those cycles, we can begin to understand them and, together, find a new way forward. Outside of the office, you can find me practicing hot yoga, spending time outdoors, playing video games, making art, or catching up on reality TV. These varied interests keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of joy, creativity, and rest, all values I bring into my work with you.
Meet the Bureau We specialize in the awkward art of being human, offering trauma-informed therapy in Denver for individuals and couples. Our therapists provide a wide range of therapies, including EMDR, DBT, and affirming care, with online sessions available across Colorado.
I work with individuals and families who are navigating life changes, anxiety, depression and overall life stressors. My goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe, heard, and valued. Therapy is a place where you do not have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have all the answers; we move at a pace that feels supportive and respectful. Clients often describe me as warm, gentle, and genuine. I use appropriate humor to ease tension, while also offering thoughtful reflection to gently interrupt patterns that may no longer be serving you. Therapy with me is collaborative and supportive, balancing emotional understanding with practical skill-building to encourage meaningful change. My hope is that through our work together, you will feel safer in yourself, more empowered, and more confident in your voice; carrying forward a deeper sense of resilience, self-worth, and the light you bring into the world.

I graduated with my MSW and a certificate in trauma from Simmons University. My main areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, and life changes. I have a background working with children and families with intense traumatic experiences. Currently, I am working with clients ages 5-35. I take pride in working alongside children and young adults to give them the skills they need to learn and grow. I utilize a variety of interventions, including TF-CBT, attachment theory, mindfulness, somatic process, active listening, motivational interviewing, grounding, and psycho-education. I believe in meeting every client where they are and going the extra mile to build strong and trusting relationships. I am dedicated to individualized, client-driven therapy, recognizing that every person is different and moves through the world uniquely. I strive to work collaboratively with each client to address their specific wants and needs. Living in this world can be challenging, and my goal is to help clients find their own ways to make it easier. I work alongside them, letting them guide the direction of therapy. College is like a pressure cooker of compounding transitions. On top of demanding coursework, you are likely navigating the intense world of identity exploration. This can mean a lot of things; from the deeply personal layers of discovering your sexual orientation and gender identity, to simply figuring out who you are as an individual and what you actually want out of romantic and sexual relationships. As a queer therapist, I intimately understand the unique difficulties of navigating these shifts. I have walked this path myself, personally navigating profound changes in my own sexual orientation and gender identity, and I know how isolating it can feel to explore these core parts of yourself while trying to maintain your GPA. It is incredibly common to feel stuck in a major or career track that feels entirely wrong, paralyzed by the fear of starting over. I know that panic firsthand. I spent years working as a software developer before a season of deep introspection and counseling gave me the courage to make a massive pivot. Today, I am in a field I love deeply; one that brings me genuine passion far beyond a paycheck. If you are feeling misaligned with your current path, I offer specialized career counseling to help you cut through the external expectations, decode your true strengths, and confidently identify a professional field that actually fits your authentic self. Whether you are drowning in academic stress, untangling painful relationship patterns, processing trauma, or facing a complete directional pivot, you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we will address the practical mechanics of stress management while diving deep into the relational dynamics that keep you stuck. I provide an encouraging, explicitly inclusive, and safe space where no topic is too messy or taboo. Your college years can feel incredibly destabilizing, but our work together will help you build the self-trust and clarity needed to step out of survival mode and into a life that is genuinely, authentically your own.

Hi there! My name is Mark (he/him). I am a licensed therapist in Colorado & Ohio. My favorite population to work with is college students — it's an exciting age of discovering your self and the world around you, but it can also be a season of hardship, disappointment, and overwhelm. My undergrad days were some of the most formative of my life, but I also know firsthand how difficult & lonely it can be to juggle the expectations of academics, relationships, finances, and more — not to mention your own developing identity and values. I am here to help those who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or burnt out. I have extensive experience helping young adults in the U.S. and Europe navigate these crossroads. My background in emotionally focused therapy and neurofeedback can help you safely & effectively lean into the discomfort you are currently facing (you need to feel it to heal it!) and develop the courage to continue forward towards the path you desire. You have the answers within you; sometimes we just need some encouragement and direction. Interested in working together? Let's get in touch! I happily offer a free 15-minute phone consult. It would be an honor to walk alongside you during your college journey.

Let's be honest; it's HARD to find a culturally sensitive therapist who understands what it's like to navigate life as a person of color, especially in the state of Colorado. How do you explain your deep love and respect for certain aspects of your culture while at the same time, acknowledge your disdain for the harmful parts of it? How do you sort through the trauma of not having your emotional needs met as a child while still feeling grateful for your parents' best attempts at loving you? How do you process the desire to assimilate into the dominant culture while not wanting to fully abandon important elements of your identity? As a first-generation American born to ethnically Chinese immigrants from Southeast Asia, I understand the joys and frustrations that can come from navigating life between multiple cultures. It is from this lived experience that my passion for supporting others who find themselves in the in-between spaces of their various backgrounds and identities was born. I am especially passionate about supporting other adult children of immigrants, multicultural individuals, transracial adoptees, and BIPOC folks of all cultural backgrounds. I am also Theraplay-trained and offer play therapy to children, with a specific focus on adoptees and little ones who need extra support navigating their big emotions.
I’m Christina (she/her) and I partner with clients in a collaborative, comfortable, evidenced-based approach to navigate life stressors, trauma, depression, anxiety and other mental health concerns. My therapeutic style includes a safe space for all to explore their understanding of themselves and the world without judgment. My goal is to welcome all, to feel safe and heard. I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, CBT and DBT. If it is your first time in therapy or you have been doing therapy for years, let's open this chapter together.
Prior to private practice, I worked in college counseling for three years. My style as a therapist is to provide much warmth, curiosity, compassion, and humor to help each client engage in a productive way of understanding themselves and their mental functioning. I take a holistic approach that encompasses the mind and the body. Although I work with many presenting concerns, I have noticed a commonality of how people are self-critical and subsequently experience declines in their mental health and relationships. I work with each client to develop self-awareness and coping skills to help decrease their mental health distress.
