As a mental health professional backed by five years of social work experience in trauma-heavy fields, I understand the complexity of how harm affects the mind and body. Now, through compassion and collaboration, I am committed to helping adolescents and adults face systemic and interpersonal challenges by utilizing a holistic approach to mental health care. Guided by a belief in dignity, I practice cultural humility, which helps me be respectful and open to other worldviews and to patients with experiences vastly different from mine. I look forward to meeting you where you are and seeing how we can make your reality work best for you. My focus is on trauma-informed care, a psychospiritual framework, and meaning-making in people's lives. You'll notice I often ask what brings you joy, incorporating that into our work together while holding space to recognize where there is dissonance in your life, how two or more things can be true at once, and what that means for your experience and relationships. I value facing fear with compassion and patience, holding immense respect for people courageous enough to ask for help, along with a belief that it is okay not to be okay. Throughout our time together, you can expect a calm, collaborative, and empowering environment tailored to your unique goals. Using a strengths-based perspective, and knowing that you are the expert on your own experience, I help you recognize what you have accomplished, even in the toughest of your struggles, and how those strengths can continue to grow. My path to becoming a therapist was unexpected: my original plan was to become a member of the clergy, and I have honored spirituality through work in interfaith ministry. Through social work, I discovered I enjoy helping people heal and grow more than leading them, which is what ultimately drew me away from that path. It started by working with people experiencing homelessness and then in residential care for students with behavioral disabilities before being drawn back to school to pursue therapy. My diversity in my professional career has led to a deep commitment to providing care that honors the whole person and is judgment-free in each session. I enjoy hiking, swimming, and biking in nature; mountains and rivers speak to my soul. I appreciate art, but know nothing about it – I just like to look. One of my more unique hobbies is seeking out spiritually diverse experiences, and I am also one of those people obsessed with the color purple.

I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with experience providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and care for adolescents and adults. My work centers on mood disorders, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, and ADHD — helping people navigate a wide range of mental health challenges so they can regain balance, improve daily functioning, and reconnect to what matters most. Whatever brings you here, I believe in taking a compassionate, holistic, and evidence-based approach that meets you where you are. Whether it’s your first time seeking psychiatric care or a continuation of a longer journey, I look forward to supporting you toward greater mental wellness and healing. Forming genuine human connections is something I'm passionate about, as I believe doing so is an integral part of how healing happens. In our work together, you can expect a supportive and collaborative environment where your concerns are genuinely valued. I use shared decision-making and supportive therapeutic techniques to help you better understand your symptoms and achieve your goals. Every treatment or medication management plan I build is individualized, tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and priorities. My path to becoming a psychiatric clinician was shaped by both personal and professional experiences. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the impact mental health challenges can have on individuals and families, while being raised by my grandmother taught me compassion and resilience — values that continue to guide the way I show up for my patients. Beginning my nursing career during the COVID-19 pandemic deepened that foundation. Offering supportive care during life's most challenging moments showed me how much it matters to have someone in your corner. Those experiences strengthened my commitment to creating a safe space where patients feel heard and empowered in their journey. Outside of work, I enjoy playing beach volleyball, hiking with my boyfriend and dog, listening to live music, and exploring new places.

Hi there! My name is Lizzy, and I’m so glad you’re here. As a Highly Sensitive Person, I’m passionate about working with individuals who feel things deeply—those who are attuned to their environments, sensitive to others’ emotions, and sometimes struggle to regulate their own big feelings. I also support people who experience anxiety, including situational anxiety. Maybe you don’t feel anxious all the time, but you notice it spiking in certain situations—like when meeting new people, navigating your romantic life, or worrying about failing or disappointing others. I have extensive experience working with individuals whose brains are still developing their emotional regulation skills, and I truly love what I do. This work not only helps me continue to grow as a professional, but also supports others in building resilience, self-awareness, and authenticity.

Reaching out for psychiatric care can be difficult. You may be concerned about being judged, unsure about medication, or discouraged by previous treatment experiences. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I believe care should be built on trust, honesty, respect, and collaboration. My role is to listen without judgment, explain your options clearly, and make sure you have a meaningful voice in treatment. I work with people of all backgrounds, including adolescents, adults, veterans, military-connected individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Many patients come to me because they want to better understand what they’re experiencing and find a treatment plan that feels manageable. These struggles may result in feeling constantly on guard, depressed, hopeless, unmotivated, or unable to concentrate – with symptoms that often affect sleep, relationships, school, work, and day-to-day functioning. Other psychiatric conditions include PTSD, mood disorders, and ADHD. No matter what you’re facing, my aim is to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, honesty, respect, and collaboration to better help you improve sleep, focus, emotional stability, relationships, motivation, and overall quality of life. My work as a psychiatric clinician centers on evaluations, diagnoses, medication management, supportive therapy, treatment planning, and patient education, all guided by a collaborative, patient-centered approach built on shared decision-making. Rather than simply prescribing a path forward, I take time to listen and explain treatment options clearly, so you understand the potential benefits and risks of each one before deciding together what makes sense. From there, your treatment plan is built around your specific symptoms, goals, preferences, and past response to care. That same collaborative spirit shapes what it feels like to work with me day to day. My style is calm, conversational, and grounded in a supportive, respectful environment where you're never just receiving instructions. Through medication management, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, and education, I help you better understand what you're experiencing and take an active role in your own treatment. As your goals and experiences evolve, so does your plan, since care here is never meant to be static. My approach to mental health care has been shaped by 25 years of experience as an Army combat medic, critical care nurse, and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. These roles gave me firsthand insight into trauma, crisis, resilience, and the effects of high-stress environments on individuals and families. I also hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, a Master of Business Administration, and the Healthcare Ethics Consultant-Certified credential. This combination of clinical, leadership, and healthcare ethics training strengthens my commitment to thoughtful, evidence-based treatments that respect each patient's values, autonomy, and individual circumstances. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our four children. Our family is actively involved in Scouting America, which gives us opportunities to serve our community, spend time outdoors, and learn new skills together. I also enjoy fishing, camping, kayaking, gaming, reading, and woodworking.

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I collaborate with adult patients to address mental health issues with and without medications. My diverse bedside experience spans oncology, perinatal, hospice, psychiatric, and military veteran populations, allowing me to help optimize your quality of life. That collaboration is grounded in compassion and open-mindedness, which allow me to be a patient-centered team member for you. I recognize that I specialize in one piece of your life, but the rest of the pieces are equally important to reaching our mutual goals for optimal mental health. While I specialize in medication management, I recognize this is only part of the picture, so your care is holistic, collaborative, and built around you. I explore both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic options, making sure you have every piece of information you need to protect your safety and your quality of life along the way. Mind, body, and spirit all factor into how I think about treatment, because you're a whole person walking through this, not a symptom list. That whole-person lens shapes what our work together looks like day to day. Expect an open-minded and patient-centered space where Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques give us a supportive structure to build on. Your lived experience, mental health goals, and physical health goals shape your c are, because your path here is yours. My path to becoming a mental health nurse practitioner began with my own journey through healthcare as a bedside nurse. Along the way, I gained deep and meaningful perspectives helping people through the most vulnerable, life-changing moments, from birth to death and everything in between, moments that can feel terrifying but can be transformed into meaningful ones with the right support and listening. My own mother is a counselor, which gave me a promising view of the changes that can be made when people are given mental health support. Therapy was part of my path too, allowing me to reflect on and review my attachments, creating space for the big, interesting life I always wanted to have. These experiences emphasized to me the importance of processing our experiences, which is now more imperative than ever given how fast life can change. Healing to build resilience in the face of stress means you can be present for your life, your family, and yourself. I love to dance, do yoga, and hike, and always make time to hang out with my cat. Watercolor painting is another favorite of mine, and I'm the first to say yes to a themed party. I'm also a self-proclaimed movie buff — movies, movies, movies! — and I love cheering on my nephew whenever he's playing a sport.
