Are you someone who experienced trauma, and now struggles with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trust, and community? My passion is working with survivors of trauma, including survivors who have experienced intimate partner violence/domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. I have extensive training and experience working with survivors aside from clinical work, including volunteering as a victim advocate on a college campus, being a SANE victim advocate, and working in two domestic violence shelters. I have 60+ hours of training in advocacy, trauma-informed-care, crisis intervention, and safety planning. I provide trauma-informed care, as well as a combination of both strengths and solutions-based approaches to meet clients where they are and use these strengths to empower them. I would love to go on this journey of empowerment, strengths, and growth with you! Please email me to schedule your first appointment!
Life can be a complicated journey and I believe that therapy can help make that journey more manageable and even enjoyable. I have been in the mental health field for over 20 years providing individual and group therapies to adults with mental illness and adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities, including those on the spectrum. I have experience in helping people manage depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, thought disorders and borderline personality disorder. I have a great deal of experience working with those who are navigating trauma, including those struggling with self-harm and thoughts of suicide. I also have experience working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community. In therapy, I believe that you are the expert and my role is to provide a safe and validating space for us to work together towards your goals. By listening to your thoughts, feelings and needs I am able to walk alongside you in your journey of finding hope, understanding, change and acceptance. To assist in your journey I use an eclectic approach of CBT, DBT, MBCT and motivational interviewing. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.

Although we have little control over the hand that life deals us, I believe in the hope that it is never too late to heal, to learn new and more effective behaviors…to create the life that you have always dreamed of living. What does it take to get there? What is holding you back? Those answers lie within each one of us. I enjoy creating an alliance with my clients, to be a guide in their own journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and acceptance. I believe in creating an environment that balances just the right amount of acceptance and change; one that is safe, nonjudgmental, and validating. I look forward to joining with you, exactly where you are, in your life journey. I have worked at Therapy Today since March 2012, and have worked in the mental health field for 25 years providing treatment services in private practice, schools, and in social service agencies, notably Community Mental Health of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. I have provided case management and individual and group therapy to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. I have supervised a multidisciplinary case management team of more than 20 clinical and support staff, and provided specialty supervision to staff on the comprehensive Dialectical Behavioral Treatment team. I have worked with co-occurring disorders to maintain compliance with state standards for evidence-based practices, coordinated outpatient services for those discharging from psychiatric facilities, and provided re-entry services for returning citizens who are paroling from prison.
