The term Legacy by definition means "something of value transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past." As I reflect upon my life I noticed people who laid up for me a legacy, a promise and hope. The most influential people who have impacted my life and who established a legacy for me were my grandparents. They established a legacy, it was the legacy of care, compassion, and goodwill to mankind. I saw kindness, love, patience, meekness, faithfulness, and gentleness and these are the qualities I bring into the therapeutic relationships. I am a believer that everyone's birth was triggered in the earth-realm for a purpose. There is a purpose attached to your life. I believe in helping people reach that purpose. Through the work that I do I seek to restore hope, and establish a legacy of abundant life. My goal as a fully licensed psychologist is to create an environment where you feel safe to be transparent to address whatever issues concern you. I look forward to entering into an alliance with you so you may begin the healing process, create a legacy and fulfill your life purpose.

Dr. Dawn Del Rio is a fully licensed psychotherapist practicing in the state of Michigan. After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and clinical social work from MSU, she attended the ULM and received her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. Post her doctorate, she obtained her Sex Therapy and Sexual Health Educator and Sports Performance certificates from the University of Michigan. Dr. Del Rio's educational path has provided a unique recipe of both micro and macro perspectives and has informed her clinical interpretations. Her psychology degree provided an emphasis on personality and human development, social work solidified her advocacy and social justice stance, marriage and family therapy strengthened her understanding of the systems and patterns within couple and family units, and her sex therapy and sexual health educator program expanded her understanding of orientation, intimacy, and human sexuality. Dr. Del Rio has worked in the mental health field for 30 years, across a variety of settings, including inpatient care, community mental health, assessment and crisis intervention, outpatient clinics, and private practice. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, trauma, and relationships. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Sex Therapy and Sexual Health, and Crisis Incident Stress Management. Dr. Del Rio has a broad range of clinical experiences working primarily with adults in the following areas: anxiety disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, OCD, anger and stress management, relationships, divorce, sexual health, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, and sports performance. She also serves in the role of clinical supervisor to help meet the educational needs of graduate students from MSU and the University of Michigan. Dr. Del Rio's approach to treatment involves a biopsychosocial and person-centered perspective. She works collaboratively with her clients, examining the person and their environment. Dawn will stay the course with her clients while simultaneously recognizing their need to be accountable, engaged, and present during the therapeutic process. She adopts a nonjudgmental stance while concurrently addressing life-interfering behaviors and the need for healthy change. She actively seeks to acknowledge her clients' strengths, explore solutions, identify constructive areas of control, and teach skills to improve her clients' functioning and quality of life.

Life can be messy, it can catch us off guard. We can find ourselves treading water and the things that used to keep us afloat aren’t working quite so well. Old wounds can dull our spark. If we’re human, we’ve all been there. I work with children, teens, and adults who are experiencing anxiety and depression, grief due to a death or those anticipating a loss, a life threatening medical diagnosis, anaphylactic food allergies and accompanying stressors, trauma, and parents with perinatal mood disorders. I also support families navigating LGBTQIA issues. I have specialized training in play therapy, trauma interventions, bereavement, and perinatal mood disorders. I have a commitment to an open and affirming practice for all. My approach is to partner with clients to form a safe and supportive relationship to explore more flexible ways of being in relationship with yourself and the world. Finding a therapist who is a good fit is one of the strongest predictors of the effectiveness of your therapy experience. I offer complimentary phone consultations to assist in determining if we are a good match.

My goal is to help and inspire those who feel disconnected and struggling in life. I aspire to help my clients feel satisfaction, comfort, and joy. With years of experience providing therapy for members of the LGBTQ+ community, clients struggling with spirituality, sexuality, or addiction(s); these topics are my passion and where I have been able to help others navigate. I have over 20 years’ experience with both civilian and government positions in the fields of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Child Advocacy, Chronic Illness and Counseling/Educational program delivery to the community. Hi there! My name is Kimmie and I practice through Embrace Change Therapy. I believe you are the expert in your life, and I am to support you through whatever journey you may be on. There is so much that happens in life; it’s very easy to become overwhelmed. When we slow down and take it one step at a time, we are able to accomplish goals and establish new ways of thinking as well as develop a wide range of coping skills. I meet you where you are, and together we can move forward to achieve your goals! Therapy is not a one fits all, so I work from a combination of modalities, mostly CBT, strengths based, and motivational interviewing depending on clientele. I've worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds, and love to learn about each and every one as their own individual selves. My philosophy in life is that there is always room for learning and growth. I believe we both have things to offer in therapy, and can't wait to meet you! I accept most insurances, including Medicaids. Send me an email and we can verify this prior to working together. I graduated from GVSU with my Bachelor’s of Social Work and Master’s of Social work. I have two black labs, am married to my college sweetheart, and we have a toddler son who keeps us on our toes! In my free time, I love reading, taking our dogs for walks, and riding my horse, Atlas, in eventing and jumping. Feel free to shoot me an email to connect!

I work with teens and college students to help them deal with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns. I also help people who are stressed out and need some clarity about big decisions such as whether to change majors. I use Solution Focused Therapy which means I'll help you get a clear idea of what you want things to look like in the immediate future and then help you use your current strengths and past successes to make it happen. I'll help you get ideas for small but do-able changes to start with, and these small changes add up to big change.

At MPTS, LLC, our mission is to create a strong relationship of trust with clients in a caring and judgement-free space, capitalizing on diverse experiences, specialties, and therapeutic strategies to meet the unique needs of the clients we serve. In so doing, we advance the following core values: • Multicultural Competence, Humility, and Sensitivity We recognize the importance of culture in informing our identities and our unique lived experiences. As such, we are dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust so that our clients become comfortable in exploring their life’s journey with their therapist. • Client-Centered Approaches We recognize that truly effective therapy is collaborative in nature. While our therapists have specialized knowledge and expertise, you and your therapist work together as a team to unpack your concerns and discover the ways to help you move toward your mental health goals. • Present-Time Focus While we understand exploring our past experiences helps to inform our future experiences, it is necessary to deliberately and purposefully be in our present. When we strive to live in the present moment, regardless of the discomfort or pain, we gain personal insight and strength to begin making change, as may be needed. • Empowerment Focus We believe that despite life’s challenges or even because of these challenges there is within each of us the potential for growth.

We all have a way of maintaining safety in relationships and making the world "work." However, from time to time, we realize that these strategies may or may not be leading us to the life we've wanted. I greatly enjoy working with women experiencing anxiety and relationship difficulties - often manifesting as high achievement and/or perfectionism. Many of my current clients are in the helping professions - mental health, medicine, faith-based ministry. Together, we begin to explore interpersonal patterns and tendencies as well as core beliefs and narratives, with the goal of creating a new story. Please see my Psychology Today profile for additional info.
